Small modifications
So this will be my new blog home I think.
Scott redid our domain last night. I finally added my system to the network, which makes it so I don't have to log in every time I want to access a network resource, and should fix some of the security issues with me running Visual Studio over the network. I hadn't added my new computer to our domain because I knew we'd have to rebuild our old one. We got a new server, but we tried to transfer the domain and things didn't go quite right. Turned out that was because one of our ex-roommates had copied the starwars vhs to an mpg file (4gb file) and that was sitting on our server, and in order to have it auto-copy from the old server to the new server, it timed out. Well, the timing out, without us knowing about it, created a mess where things were partially transferred... At any rate, I knew we'd have to rebuild the network, and I hate redoing my profile, so I just waited. Hopefully nothing goes wrong forcing me to redo it again....
The forums still display posts in the wrong order. New posts are properly sorted, which makes me believe there is a date field somewhere that I didn't update when I pulled all the data over. Whats really strange is that the dates are properly shown, so the date that is used to sort must be a different field (or even in a different table) than the field used to show. The forums are more responsive, because a lot of data is stored redundantly so it doesn't have to regrab it every time it does a pull on the database, but sure makes it a pain trying to figure out where all the fields are.
I found 2 more places where the total posts are stored, I went ahead and updated them both. Someone has 28k posts, I'm sure its fluffy phil. :) Hopefully it will display properly, the forums cache a lot of data, so things often don't get changed for a good 10-15 minutes.
