We started role-playing again last weekend.  We still haven't settled in, but I really wanted to try, otherwise one weekend without role-playing slips into the next and then suddenly it gets hard to start again.

So Friday we continued our Age of Worms campaign.  We started a bit late, it took a while to get the gaming area setup, the miniatures organized, the characters found, etc.  We also had to drag all our chairs downstairs into the basement.  We used to just pull the chairs from the computer lab into the dining area where we have the big table, but now our computer lab is several rooms away and one floor up from our gaming area and it was a major pain, especiall since I'm still aching from the move.

I couldn't find my laptop charger, couldn't find my wireless router, etc.  So it was paper for me to track initiatives and such.  Dang, I really missed my custom software application I wrote to help me manage the game.

Anyways, the group did well, perhaps a bit too well, as there weren't any major opponents in this leg so far.  Mark and his gf's character nearly died, a trap that first paralyzed chelsea's character then launched a windstorm that progressively grew stronger nearly ripped them up and out which would have been at least 50 or so feet of falling damage.  Needless to say at lvl 2 it would have been deadly.  Luckily at the last moment Mark managed his check and leaped up, away, and slid down the chain away from the trap.  Its times like those that I can appreciate the Eberron action point system, it was pretty dramatic. (I don't want to give too much away since some people might play the Age of Worms campaign themselves).

Several traps later, the group encountered a small evil earth elemental that thought of itself a bit too highly.  I got several chuckles from the group as I mimiced a little 2' earth elemental man yelling and threatening the lives of the group if they didn't release it.  It was good, hopefully memorable.

The night ended far too soon, we spent too much time preparing. but at least we had Saturday's campaign (right?)

The next day it was looking like things were going to be better, I had found my laptop charger, got the wireless working, and all the characters were found.  A couple issues: some characters still needed to be advanced to lvl 3, we decided to buy chairs which turned out to take over an hour due to the store being really busy and shorthanded, and then when I went to the local pizza place to buy dinner it took over an hour because their delivery driver got lost and the restaurant got realy backed up with people freaking out.

So we started late, but it was still good.  I play an artificer and Jenn DMs the game.  We saw an encampment of humans, and Scott plays a scout, so I thought I would abuse my artificer powers a bit.  I have 2 lvl 2 infusions, and I took the heroic feat so I have extra action points.  I enchanted Scott's bow and Mark's warforged's fists with Human Bane, then cast a scroll I had scribed, called Blessed Aim (+2 morale bonus to ranged attack rolls to all allies).

Scott with his human bane bow, Chelsea and I with crossbows, both  fired upon the humans while Mark pretty much took out people who charged us.  It was brutal and far easier than it was probably meant to be, though two of the boss type people fled on horseback.  In hindsight we realied the humans shouldn't have tried to charge us, instead they should have hid behind their tents and fired at us from cover while we were out in the open.  But it was kind of fast so I don't blame Jenn since we didn't think about it until afterwards.

At least I felt like my artificer was pretty useful.  So far I find the ability to give Bane to be the best ability of the artificer, as it can be tremendously powerful in the right situations.  I can't wait until I go renegade master maker.  My character slowly replaces himself with enchanted construct parts until he becomes a living construct.  The first thing he will do is replace his living hand with a warforged hand.  It should be cool. :)

Hopefully our next weekend shall prove better, as we didn't really get to play much at all.  Unfortunately 2 of our players won't be able to play fridays, so not sure how things are going to work out. :(  Maybe I'll get in some more of my Evil Eberron Campaign. :)
