Hi all,
My webcomic, Delacroix and the Daring, is about two musketeers, Edmond Delacroix and Darius “The Daring” Dontez, and their adventures searching for love, defending the crown and making their way in the world. But it is more than that. It is the visual expression and blending of my love of comics, fantasy, history and adventure. It is a place where I can continue the tradition of the action adventure strip that has all but disappeared from today’s newspapers. It is my tribute to the great adventure strip creators like Alex Raymond, Al Williamson, Milton Caniff, and Hal Foster. I feel that something has truly been lost from the adventure strip, as these stories moved to the pages of the comic book and graphic novel. Though some great things can be accomplished by the use of page layout, there seems to be something more pure and focused to the single tier strip. The artist is less concern with fancy page layouts and more concerned with telling the story through the images in the panels. I am sure this can and likely will be debated amongst the readers, and I would welcome such sharing of ideas. I will let the storyline play out to give you more details of the individual adventures. Until then, sharpen your blade and “En Garde!” because the adventures are just beginning.
