It has always been and, I think, it will always remain.

Although it is not right in anyway or form it will always be here, especially after the incidents in london, I personally believe we are sitting ont he edge of a huge racism war about to start because of the incidents.

I agree.  People will always try and make correlations to people based on appearance - all fat people are lazy, all young kids are reckless and irresponsible, etc.  I will say though it is a natural human defense mechanism to group people together in easily indentifable groups.  Let me explain:  You go to a city and get mugged - twice and meet a few bad people.  You then form an opinion of that city based on your experience and if you go back you become cautious and guarded.  Futhermore you go and tell others your experience to warn them.  The situation is worsened when all you hear (or choose to concentrate) on other people's similar tales.  It may even be true population that the town in question has more hurtful than helpful people but not every person is that way.  It is easier and safer to remain gaurded while in that city or outright avoid it altogether.  People fear that which is different.

Racism within humans would probably end if we found some aliens to make fun of because they're ugly and green or something.

Our society focuses too much on the surface value of life.  We need to teach deeper values, more critical reasoning, and seek out and cherish wisdom.  When we do that, racism -- the hatred of what something appears to be on the surface -- will fade away.

Sadly, I think that the reflexive distrust of those who are different is something that is genetically built into humans.. No matter how mouch tolerance you teach a person, there will always be an istinctive nature of people to feel wary of someone who is an 'outsider'

That's why I believe there will never be a complete end to racisim unless there is genetic alteration of humans, or mind control chips placed in all of us. (both of which are far more frightening then intolerance)

I guess I'm an optimist, but I don't agree.  If you observe babies and very small children you'll see that their instinct is trusting... as long as they don't feel threatened by sudden unexpected movements towards them or loud noises.  They are completely unaffected by the color/race of others.  I don't think racism is genetic.  And if it is, by teaching and valuing tolerance we'll slowly create evolutionary pressure that will create better genetics.

I know that this topic is a touchy one, but I've always considered racism a form of ethnocentrism.  I assume, dating back to tribalism...  I do not apologise for racist people, but we all have "our team" (at the very least, subconsciously) first and foremost in our minds.  unfortunately- even if we get past colour barriers, we still have religious barriers, nationalistic barriers, etc...  we will always find other reasons to hate the other side.

Actually, there are about 10 times as many unemployed people in America as there are illegal aliens.  So doing the math, Americans are mostly not working for reasons that have nothing to do with illegal immigration.
