KINGDOM HEARTS

The Strength Within

 

[Rain]

You awake to the sound of rushing water.  You open your eyes and find that you have been lying in front of a sewer grate.  When you look around, you see nothing but the back a large building.  There are several balconies jutting out from it-one red, one blue, and one green.  On the green balcony, you see a man looking at you.  He has spikey blonde hair and a strange tattoo on his face.  He’s wearing a black shirt, blue jean shorts, and a red vest.  He gives you a mock salute when he catches your eye.

 

[Maple]

You open your eyes and are met with a large red fuzzy ball being shoved in your face.  When it backs up, you see a small, pink animal staring up at you.  “Kupo?”  Looking around, you see a line of street lamps in front of you, and three small duck-like creatures standing in front of a shop.

 

[Flash]

“Woof!”  You wake up, and find a dog holding your precious novella in its mouth.  A woman in a blue outfit comes running up.  “Angelo!  Leave that poor man alone!”  You look around and notice that you are leaning up against the door of a small house.

Flash awakens and rubs his head. Finally he notices the book in the dog's mouth. "Hey! Let go of that!" He fights over the book with the dog for a few minutes, but is too afraid of ripping it. The dog seems too content at using the book as a game of tug of war to give it back to him. "Umm, can you please tell your dog to give me back my book? It's all I have left!" he asks the woman in blue.

"Wha?" Maple says as her eyes adjust to her surroundings. She spots a small pink animal that has an antena with a fuzzy red ball at the end of it. "Whats this thing?" She wondered. Her concentration then turns to the tree duck-like creatures infront of what seemed to be a shop. "E-excuse me but would you happen to know what this place is?" She asked puzzled by her surroundings. "How did I get here?" She thought to herself.

Rain stood up looked around at the strange surroundings he is now in.  He then looked to the man.  'What why is that guy looking at me and saluting at me?  Last thing I remeber was darkness and then I wake up here.  This is strange.'  He thought as he began to walk towards him. 'Where am I?' He thought again as he continued to walk to the man. "Hey, you up there. What is this place?  How did I manage to get here." He now stood under the balcony looking up at the man.

[Rain]

The man jumps down from the balcony and lands in front of you.  He extends his hand with a friendly smile.  "Name's Zell.  Kicker of Butts and Woo-er of Ladies.  And you are?"

[Maple]

"Kupo?  Ku-po!"  The small creature starts to walk away, then turns back.  "Ku-po!  Kupo!"  He continues to walk, clearly expecting you to follow.

[Flash]

"I'm so sorry.  Angelo!  No!"  She grabs the book, and as she pulls on it, the front cover tears off.  The dog quickly tears it to pieces, then sits contentedly by the woman's feet.  "Oh my," says the woman, "I'm so sorry!  Bad Angelo!  Bad!  What book was it?  Maybe I can get you a new one.  Please forgive my dog, Angelo just doesn't know any better."

Flash's eyes shoot wide open and he flinches at every tearing sound effect.
"That was all I had left from my home! Everyone else is- Why did-"
Flash gathers himself and pauses for a second.
He glares at the dog for a moment.
"...Ugh, just never- Nevermind.. It was just a book. It can be replaced" It obviously pains him to say this.
"It was called "Reaching the Unreachable Stars By Cid Highwind".."

Rain shakes Zell's hand. "I am Rain. I have no clue where we are right now. The last thing I remeber was fighting off these strange black creatures that were attacking my home. Then it was dark and I awoke here. Oh yeah I also got this somehow." Rain raises his sowrd that he held in his hands. "I do not know where it came from. I seem to have found it when I was fighting off the creatures." He then lowers his sword as he hopes for Zell to have some answers at least.

[Rain]

"You've fought the Heartless?  Did they destroy you're world too?  Man, I'm sorry about that.  I've been living here ever since they took my world.  Anyway, welcome to Traverse Town.  Its sort of an in-between world where survivors from other worlds end up.  I've got some business to attend to in First District, care to join me?"

[Flash]

"Cid Highwind?  He's a friend of mine.  He runs the gummi shop over in First District.  Come on!  I'll take you to meet him.  Oh, by the way, my name is Rinoa and this is my dog, Angelo."

[Blade]

You wake up next to a strange house.  The house sits on a rock jutting out of a lake.  Upon glancing around, you find yourself completely surrounded by shadows (the small little frog-like heartless).  They seem to be eyeing you, as if unsure to devour your heart now, or wait and see what you will do.

Maple stood looked at the small creature. "Does it want me to follow it?" she thought as she stood up and started following it, thinking to herself. "Why am I even following it? What if it leads me to the middle of nowhere? But then again..it could be leading me back home!" For most of the walk, Maple was locked in battle with herself until finally, the little creature stopped.

"Kupo!"  says the small creature.  It leads you up a flight of stairs and behind a shop.  There is a blonde-haired man standing behind the shop.  He tosses his cigarette to the ground and looks at you.  "Moogle bring in fresh meat?  Where you from, kid?"

"Cid Highwind!? You know THE Cid Highwind!?" with the blink of an eye Flash had gone from angry to over joyed. "Wow! Am I glad I ran into you! My names Flash. And what's a gummi? I've never heard of those..."

"Me? well I uh..was from a village called Cathascacht, but right now I have no idea where I am...would you happen to know?"

"The name's Cid.  Cid Highwind.  This here s**thole is known as Traverse Town.  Not much happens 'round here, least nothing interesting.  Hasn't been a Heartless attack in over a decade.  Not that I'm complaining, things are just too damn quite, ya know?"

[Flash]

Rinoa smiles.  "Yes I know Cid.  He's been here for years.  Helped my friends and I settle in when our world was destroyed.  C'mon.  I'll take you to him."  Rinoa leads you through a set of doors, through a large plaza, and through another set of doors.  And there, talking to some girl, is the Cid Highwind.  "Cid!" Rinoa calls.  "I found another kid who's world was destroyed.  He's a fan of yours too.  Who's the girl?"

Rain says to Zell, "Sure I'll come.  It isn't like I have anything better to do.  So you're saying thoughs shadowy creatures are called heartless. Strange things just keep getting stranger and stranger.  Hmm, I wonder what is going to happen now.  Heh I guess i'll find out when it does happen. So, where are we heading to now?"  Rain stood there waiting for Zell to lead the way.

"What the..." Blade stood up slowly, stopping her self from swearing and looked around to her surroundings which were very different to where she had been before she had mysterious appeared in front of this house. she saw many eyes upon her. she slid her hand down her leg to her ankle and felt the handle of an object... a dagger and smirked. She looked around and called to the eyes watching her "You want me..." then she stood in her fighting stance, the dagger in one hand her other hand, palm up stretched out in front of her "Come and get me"
