    RE: Best rpg

Still like Fallout, that game rocked with all it's char. possibilities, although maybe it was a bit to easy to create ubers. KotOR was good, but to linear, only 2 really distinct choices, but the story made up a lot of it's flawes.Arcanum was good, I only regret the fact that I usually got killed by Hellcats before I could do anything great. And I still enjoy Baldurs Gate.

Okage: Shadow King for its marvelous satirical look at rpgs and its kooky graphics, and Xenosaga for its epic-ness, good characters, and nice battle system.

In general, I favor RPGs that don't require ridiculous amounts of leveling-up.

    RE: Best rpg

My all time favorite would be Chrono Trigger.  It's held up incredibly well these past few years.  Even now, I can play it all the way through, and not feel like I'm trudging on.  Which is a definite problem in some RPG's.

I'm also a fan of the FF series, but I've been rather disappointed with the last couple games.  Four, six and eight are all rather good, though.

There's probably others, but I'm too lazy to bother listing them.

...Okage is the only rpg that still sticks with me...(still hasn't found all the cogs)

I guess it'll be meh numbah one. (loves the kooky style)

    Re: RE: Best rpg

when it comes to FF games 6 would have to be my all time favorite, I'm also big fan of the often unrated FF9. FF7 goes down as having most memorial characters of all time. While FF8 has most uncharismatic characters of all time (still a great game, just felt Squal was to much of ass to really care for his character).

Shin Megami Tensei's Digital Devil Saga gets my vote for best RPG.

    Re: Best rpg

I know I'll get flamed for this... Best RPG of all time... Deus EX. I know, it's hard to pigeonhole into a genre, but it WAS an RPG. An action/adventure FPSRPG with a load of conspiracy theories etc.

Seriously, this game was so incredibly mind blowing. This is the first game I ever played that had me confusing real life with the game. It really messed up my head.

FF7 was also really well done, especially the story and pacing. Matter of fact, all the games that have been listed here are awesome. I love you guys. Now draw me a nekkid chick.

    Re: Best rpg

It's gotta be FALLOUT. Not only best RPG, but quite possibly my favouritist EVER game. Also, Planescape: Torment was pretty darn good too. Infact, I'm playing in a window as I type this.

Oh, and to the poster above, Deus Ex did truely rock. Shame about the dumbed down sequel...

    Re: Best rpg

Kingdom Hearts, all the way. Best game ever made. Although, Star Ocean 3 was good, and Fable is brilliant, not forgetting Final Fantasy 8 and KOTOR...

    Re: Best rpg

Final Fantasy is the father of modern RPG/anime gaming and should be respected both by gamers and developers.
