I haven't seen an online TBS (other than Doofus), but the internet always has someone that won't stop poking you in the eye. I just haven't seen/played against many RTS players that piss me off. I guess I'm just lucky.

I've always found loads of MMO/FPS (or combination of the two) players to be either pretty awesome or complete assholes.

And the one thing I loved about the community is that most of the people were pretty nice and skilled. Though recently there has been a decline in skill...or I've gained some more (doubtful), the community is still nice and fun.
