    Re: Welcome to the shadows

I was thinking Koriryu... would your character even be able to handle a 45. cal pistol? That's some grade-A bang bang right there, if you've ever fired one in real life you'd know what I am talking about... and considering you are playing a steriotypical geeky decker who spends most of his time in the matrix your scrawny little arms might not beable to withstand the kick from that thing.

You might be better off with a light pistol, maybe this one:

Walther PB-120: Rugged and small, the PB-120 is the light pistol of choice for many mercenaries. An extended 15-round clip is available for situations in which 10 shots just aren't enough.

Which reminds me, if anyone want's to add a bit of flare by picking an actual weapon from the books let me know and I can help you find what you need. So in stead of saying I carry a big menacing pistol, you can say I carry a Ares Predator Mk II.

    The gun shop, is open...

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

I talked to blood scorcerer, so since kori is being the decker, unless someone else is the shadowdoc you're talking about, I believe I'll work on that.  Shadowdoc is the one that deals with cybergear, right?

My other thought was a medic with a tranq gun that can shoot stimulants for our party and poisons and whatnot at the opposition.

Thoughts?  (I had never heard of shadowrun before this game, so I'll need a bit of help for a while at the beginning)

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

Yeah, I was talking about you Aydin.

Well Shadowdoc is slang for and unlicensed doctor which is a very useful thing to have around; after all licensed doctors need to report bullet wounds and the like. Blood also told me you wanted to be charismatic, so you would end up doing most of the negotiations and what not so I got the impression you wanted to play some handsome medical school dropout, maybe you did graduate but you where fired for having relations with a patient or whatever and now need to work as a shadowdoc just to stay fed...

As a Shadowdoc you would be responsible for mending wounds, treating injuries and what not; you can also use your knowledge to safely remove cyberware from felled enemies without damaging it and perhaps implant it in someone else for good amount of nuyen. You could easily make friends by giving teammates a discount.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

alrighty, my character as it stands at the moment:

    Real Name: Setaph Kaldar

    Runner Name: Archangel

    Race:Human

    Age:23

    Sex: male

SIN: Setaph’s SIN was deleted by his family.

    Concept:Shadowdoc

Appearance: Setaph is about 6ft tall, with brown hair and deep, blue eyes.  He is fair skinned, and always looks thoughtful.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Setaph is a people person.  He can always figure out how to talk his way out of just about anything.  He is a ladies man, natural leader, and a commanding presence in any room.  However, he has almost no combat skill whatsoever.  He carries a gun, but its mostly to bluff his way out of dangerous situations.  As a shadowdoc, Setaph’s strength is cyberware.  He can remove cyberware from fallen people with relative ease, and is deft in the implanting of said ware.  His weakness is in the actual healing of physical ailments.

Personality: Setaph grew up in a rich family full of important people.  His family was a corporation family for Omnitech, which gave Setaph easy access into Universal Omnitech.  Setaph was always at odds with his family.  They wanted him to become a business leader, and he would have none of it.  He went to Universal Omnitech just to get his family off his back for a little while.

Setaph attended Universal Omnitech for three years.  Upon entering his fourth year, he was caught having relations with his female biotech 101 teacher.  He was immediately expelled from the University, as well as his own family.  The rest of the Kaldar family was so ashamed, the deleted his SIN, record of birth, and any other files related to him from the Omnitech computer system, completely erasing any record of him ever being born.  According to government, Setaph doesn’t exist.  Setaph has lived on the street ever since, becoming a shadowdoc to keep himself alive and in nuyen.  He knows cyberware inside and out, and has dabbled a bit in biotechnology.

Setaph likes women.  Plain and simple.  One of his favorite past-times is chasing women.  He’s pretty good at it too.  He is actually not much of a drinker.  He likes to keep his wits about him at all times.  He also enjoys talking.  Making up stories, flirting, lecturing, as long as he’s in the spotlight.  He can’t stand trolls, but is amiable with people of any other race.

Cyberware: Vision magnification, image link, and fingertip compartment containing a strong sedative

    Magic:Mundane

    Contacts: Scalpel, Ears, jimmy flanagan

Equipment: medical tools, .45 alta morissey

    Nuyen: 500

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

    Looks good.

As far as a pistol goes, well since you want one more for intimidation than use you might want the Rugar Super Warhawk, it's a big, heavy duty dirty harry style revolver. Easily 45. maybe even 50. cal. This is a hefty, menacing hand gun. If you want something that's more easily usible I would suggest the same one Kori has. Or should you want something with a little more style there is the Morrissey Alta.

The Morrissey series of fire arms are self defence for the fashion conscious, they are composed entirely of polyresin and cannot be detected by magnetic anomaly detectors (MADs), though its ammunition may be detected. It's designers shaped it to look like an extension of its user's hand, a choice that pervents it from fireing flechette rounds. The Alta is the largest firearm in the Morrissey family. While it is small for the heavy pistol designation, its power proves that to be the correct classification. It has a built in under-barrel laser sight.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

    Real Name: Lillith DeJeph

    Runner Name: Tango

    Race: Human

    Age: 17

    Sex: Female

    SIN: No

    Concept: Covert Ops Specialist

Appearance: With maple-tanned skin and sandy-blonde shoulder length hair she looks as if she had been working in the sun all day; her eyes are pure black and one could tell it is from cyberware. She is 4”7 and hates when people mistake her for a child. When not wearing her work clothes she is usually in a dress; she dislikes long elegant dresses and likes ones you can run in. She has cybernetic cat ears that have replaced her normal ears, and they occasionally twitch.

Strengths and Weaknesses: When you want a job done quick, and keep it quiet, she is the one to ask. She excels in speed the most, and is weakest when it comes to strength. She is clever and sharp, so figuring out puzzles is a breeze for her. She also has a large amout of skill when it comes to Taijutsu; unarmed hand-to-hand combat.

Personality: She is one of the most impatient people you will ever meet, and will get angry when people slow her down. She is also a prankster and loves to pull pranks on her free time. But one of the things she hates is admitting defeat or getting a prank pulled on her. At times she can act very childish and annoying; at other times she can be serious. It all depends on the situation. She tends to lie a lot but hates when others lie because it “destroyer of virtue.” Not much is know about her past since she does not have an SIN, but it is rumored that she was part of the elite 6; a group of professional thieves.

Her favorite food is pizza and she loves icecream, she pretty much only eats junk food but on rare occasions has a vegetable or two. She is not a big fan of alcohol but will drink almost any type except for wine. Her favorite music is orchestra and rap. The animal she likes the most are cats, but unfortunately for her, she allergic to fur.

She dislikes children, and tries not to have anything to do with them, but when she does it can turn chaotic. She is deathly afraid of dogs and spiders and will get as far away as she can from them as she can. She does not like eleves; they are too elegant and she does not like orcs; they are just plain annoying, but she is fine being around any other race.

Cyberware: Cybernetic cat ears which include: Hearing amplification, a recorder and a select sound filter. Hers eyes have Image links and thermographic vision. Also she has a datajack and headware memory. She has retractible hand razors and boosted reflexes to give her an advantage in hand-to-hand combat.

    Magic: Mundane

Equipment: Two Cavalier Scouts, a pack of hand grenades, mace and smokebombs.

    Nuyen: 950

Contacts: Serathilion, Jimmy Flannagan, Shamrock(The only orc she has befriended) , Shadow Strike

Someone once told me to get a life..where can I download one of those?

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

Looks alright, however there are a few problems.

    1. Under concept you have her listed as Adept/Thief yet under Magic she is Mundane. This isn't so much a problem as a misuse of wording. An adept is magically awakened and uses it's magic to augment it's physical abilites and skills. Now it is perfectly alright if you make this character a true physical adept but keep in mind that cyberware detracts from your essence and the less essence you have the less powerful your magical abilities will be.

    2. Under Strengths and Weaknesses "She is familiar with computers and knows how to hack into security systems and into weak agencies documents."

Sure you can know your way around a computer, you can have some electronics knowledge so you can jury rig maglocks and such but you won't be a very good hacker in the sixth world unless you have a data jack and a cyber deck. You would be better off leaving that to the Decker.

2.5 Now when we consider bits of her personality: impatient, stubborn, childish, and annoying. I don't see how this: "She can also easily charm people, which helps alot when she needs something fast." Actually working unless she was a shaman or a mage who used magic to charm people because as is she seems to be the opposite of charismatic.

    3. "Equipment: Two .45 caliber handguns, a pack of hand grenades, mace and smokebombs." Why does everyone go for the biggest hand guns they can... as you said strenght is your weakest stat, you won't be able to withstand the recoil from one, let alone two .45 caliber handguns. I've fired a .45 before, they kick hard and I'm a pretty strong guy, I know for a fact I would have trouble fireing it one handed, it'd likily make my wrist go numb after a couple shots. May I suggest either the:

Hammerli Model 610S: Featuring customizable grip pads for comfort, the Model 610S is sleek and stylish. It can accommodate top-mounted accessories, but has no room for barrel mounts due to an integral gas-vent system that provides recoil compensation. Because this weapon is designed as a target pistol, it has superior range when compaired to other light pistols.

    Or the

Walther PB-120: Rugged and small, the PB-120 is the light pistol of choice for many mercenaries. An extended 15-round clip is availible for situations in which 10 shots just aren't enough.

Perhaps even a hold-out pistol that can be easily hidden on you:

Cavalier Scout: Perhaps the most compact semi-automatic pistol designed to date, the Scout can easily be concealed in a pocket. The gun even features a pocket clip on its frame to keep it in place.

    4. Cyberware: "Cybernetic cat ears which include: Hearing amplification, a recorder and a select sound filter. Hers eyes have Image links and thermographic vision." An image link is useless without a data jack and some headware memory as is the recorder. If you want to add in some cyberware and keep with the cat motif here are some changes I suggest...

From what I can tell you seem to want to play more of a covert ops specialist type character.

The Covert Ops Specialist is a master of infiltration and unauthorized access. Her skills and gear allow her to survey targets and gather intelligence. Using her Electornics Skill, sequencer and retinal duplication, she can bypass security systems and alarms like a megacorp evading a tax.

Physical obsticals are bypassed through the use of athletics and guards can be fast-talked or taken out physically if necessary. Once inside she can sneak quietly about, communicate silently via headware radio, and use her cybered sense and radio scanners to keep an eye out for trouble. Anything she sees or hears through her amplified sesne can be recorded and stored in headware memory.

The specialist maintains a strict cover identity which she uses to conceal her true identity and goals, as well as to lure unsuspecting targets into her confidence. she's a valued teammate, either as an information gatherer or as an advance scout.

If you like this idea here are the changes I suggest...

Cyberware: Cybernetic cat ears which include: Hearing amplification, a recorder and a select sound filter. Cybereyes with Image links and thermographic vision. Datajack, Headware memory (100Megapulse (MP) ), and Boosted Reflexes rating 1. If you want you can also throw in a cosmetic change to make the cybereyes feline in appearance and if she wanted to be even more cat like have lowlight instead of thermographic. You could also choose either a smart link rating 1 (for guns) or retractible hand razors (for unarmed combat, these can be in the form of metal claws that slide in and out of your finger tips on a mental comand from you. They can also aid in climbing.)

Possible things that may interest you in looking to have implanted in game... "Kid Stealth" Cyberlegs: These obviously non-metahumanoid cyberlegs are shaped like the hind legs of a quadruped animal, such as a cat. The feet can be hoof-shaped or splayed like the feet of a bird. The shape of these legs allows the user to run more quickly, jump higher and increases the power of kicking attacks. Characters may also install toe razors or retractable baldes.

    Balance Tail
Grafted to the base of the spine, this weighted cybernetic tail extends for slightly more than one meter. Connected to an expert system balance processor, the tail adjusts to keep the user's center of gravity balanced. The tail is not under conscious control and tends to twitch and sway randomly as the user moves. People equipped with a balance tail must have their clothes customized to accommodate the extrra limb.

    sound dampener, flare compensation ect...

If you decide to go with this and be a covert ops specialist you can choose to know some form of martial art. That way even if you aren't very strong you can still have the upper hand in most physical confrontations.

These are just my suggestions, take them or leave them either way some things will need to be changed. I really like how much detail you put into her personality, that part is fantastic, but since you didn't talk to me about your character Id din't have the oppertunity to offer you advice so I will need to do that now.

Oh and everyone will start with a Pocket Secretary: The pocket secretary is an office for the businessman on the go. The compact unit functions as a cellular phone, a computer (100mp), digital camera and filling system. Standard software performs call screening, answering-machine functions, automatic teleconfirmation of credit transactions, word processing with standard letters on file and stenographer functions. Pocket secretaries are not equipped for jacking into the Matrix. Cases are shcok and water resistant for durability and long service. Also if you have a SIN you will have a Credstick which basically works as your ID and Bank card. If you don't have a SIN... well you are limited to being paid in cash, goods or services.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

Oh I just noticed you had an image link as well aydin, like I said to Lonekitsune those are worthless unless you have a datajack and some headware memory. Without those you won't beable to upload and store the information you are viewing on your image link.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

Okay those changes look good except I said either thermal OR lowlight, not both. Plus I said tha balance tail might be something you would want to get IN game. As in you don't start with it.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

ok this is my updated version of my character.

    Real Name: Jason Wylder

    Runner Name: Shadow Strike

    Race: Human

    Age: 19

    Sex: Male

    SIN: No

    Concept: Cyberware Ninja

Appearance:  Milk-white skin and jet-black hair proves that he is barely seen at all (if anyone ever does see him) and blood-red eye. He has form-fitting full body armor suit coated with ruthenium colored in black (including the head area.)

Strengths and Weaknesses: Stealthy and very good with electronics. He can bypass every known security system and alarms like a megacorp evading a tax with ease, and can kill his enemy with precision. He is very very bad at using guns and gets mad easily.

Personality: Jason normally was a good kid until the age of 11 when his parents both died all of a sudden. And then nearly 8 years later he came back but this time as an assassin. And now he is dark, very dark. He has little or no emotions for anyone he sees with a really short temper. It doesn’t take much to set him off and it happens he become even more deadly then normal. Very quiet almost too quiet, anyone who has heard his voice are dead. The only people he would trust are he cyberware maker named Darkside, and Tango whoem he considers his equal when it comes to being an assassin

Cyberware: Cybereyes with thermographic vision, boosted Reflexes rating 1, retractable wrist blades, and titanium bone lacing, Hearing amplification, and a Select sound filter.

    Magic: Mundane

Equipment: Lock pick, electronics kit, retractable poison-tipped wrist blades

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

Alright now the two of you just need to choose contacts. Then once Blood Sorcerer posts his character we can see about starting the game...

If anyone else is planning on joining please let me know. The teams still doesn't have someone who uses firearms, while not neccisary it can be helpful, nor do they have a rigger and may have trouble should they need an extraction or find themselves involved in a car chase.

    Re: Welcome to the shadows

    Real Name: Kryal Hode

    Runner Name: Flashfeather

    Race: Human

    Age: 24

    Sex: Male

    SIN: Fake One, but Yes

    Concept: Thunderbird Totem Shaman

Appearance: Kryal stands at 5’11 and weighs in at about 170 lbs, with a light build, showing no fat, but at the same time no muscle, more sinew than anything else. His hair falls down in a braid in the back, the same color of black as his eyes, which show his heritage, his Native American blood. He has an olive skin tone, and a tattoo of the Thunderbird on his Chest, a tattoo of a feather going down his back, and a tattoo of a storm on his face, beneath his right eye. His typical clothing is inconspicuous, he typically wears slacks and a T-shirt, along with a brown duster, the only thing strange about his gear would be his Staff, which has carvings representing his totem and family: the Thunderbird, the Hawk, the Raven, the Crow, and the Eagle.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Kryal is smart, and charismatic, he knows a great deal of the natural world, and seems to be a quick study, learning things of the urban world just as quickly. Yet at the same time, he’s wise enough not to simply spout of what he knows, he knows how to apply that knowledge in adequate situations; however, he isn’t very technologically savvy. That is probably his biggest weakness, the fact that he knows next to nothing of technology, since his world was more in touch with nature – another thing he knows something about, a great deal about in fact, considering that he is a Shaman. Another weakness would be that Kryal happens to have a very fiery temper, and can suddenly freak out if he becomes angry, for whatever the reason. As such, many people can tell when he’s about to get angry, because the few restraints he has over himself seem to snap, as his tells are his nervous twitch and cracking his knuckles. Once he starts those two things, he’s not far from going completely crazy on the person who angered him.

Personality: Being a Native American in today’s world is somewhat difficult, considering that a great deal of the population were injured in the creation of the NAN state, and as such, it’s a sensitive topic to Kryal, but something that he takes great pride in. He is very proud to be a Native American of the Cherokee tribe, and as such he will never take any flack from those who feel otherwise, and are rude to him because of his rich heritage, because that’s how he considers his heritage – rich, powerful, and something to be admired. That is probably one of the defining aspects of him, that he IS Native American.

And yet he also is a person, he enjoys reading a great deal, and has studied Emerson, Chaucer, Shakespeare, at the same time as learning about the natural world from his teachers, and that is in his brain. He sees the world as an intricate place where he can find anything, and help people using the abilities he has. Because as he was trained to be a Shaman by his teacher, he knows that helping others who are important and close to him is the main part of his life, and although he will occasionally do something that helps only himself, he does have a more ‘help the community mindset’. At the same time, however, if he feels the community is corrupt, and not worth protecting, he will simply not protect it, although the environment is far more important to him than any human made construction.

Nature is important to him, and he cannot stand the defilement of it. Technology, as such, can sometimes be completely disturbing to him, if it leaves a devastating mark on the world. Cybertechnology, which he knows harms the consistent essence of a person, is bothersome to him, although he knows for some there is no other choice. It does bother him, however, and blatant cybertechnology can irritate him. Misused magic, however, is far worse for him. If he sees someone using magic to damage the environment, to hurt the community, the rage that ensues if far worse than the mild irritation caused by being in the presence of cybertechnology.

    Cyberware: None.

Magic: Shaman of the Thunderbird Totem, born and raised as a Shaman of the Cherokee people. His power is of that of the Thunderbird, and his magic seems to have a more electrical fury to it. His powers seem to be an expression of electricity, of lightning, and although not all of his spells are electrical in nature, some of the expressions of them tend to appear like bolts of lightning – even when they aren’t. His spells are:

Stunbolt – a spell which looks like a bolt of lightning which is intended to stun a target, rather than deal actual damage. As such it is usually used for taking down those people who are needed later. Prisoners, for interrogation, whatever is necessary.

Manabolt – a spell which looks like a blast of white fury, it is a spell which attacks the astral side of a target, of sorts, and damages through willpower rather than body. It attacks the person’s soul, and destroys a part of it in the process.

Ball Lightning – a spell which is somewhat self-explanatory. It is an area spell which releases electricity in a mass area. This is probably one of the more ‘pure’ expressions of Kryal’s totem, the Thunderbird.

Clairvoyance – a spell that allows Kryal to gaze into places of his choosing, such as in buildings or around corners. It allows him to spy on people, although he can hear nothing of what is said, and cannot see what is around him as he does it, he can only see the place of his choosing.

Mind Probe – a spell that allows Kryal to gaze into the mind of whomever he looks at. It can be very specific, to allow him to look for one piece of information, or can tell him the surface thoughts of the person he is looking at.

History: Kryal was born in the plains of the Midwest, a small Cherokee tribe where he was praised and loved. His parents were both Cherokee, and they had participated in the Ghost Dance, and as such were respectable members of their community, and when Kryal began to show that he was in touch with the world on a magical level – Awakened as it is called – he began tutelage under the Shaman of the tribe. That Shaman was a Raven shaman, and a trickster, yet at the same time he began to teach the child some of his ways, even accepting that Kryal wanted to choose the Thunderbird totem, and as such, was very different than his teacher. Maybe something of that difference drove him to leave his tribe after he had chosen, to go on a spiritual quest after learning something of his abilities, to quest for himself.

That journey has led him through the NAN lands, and he learned only the differences of people in that area, and as he neared the edge of the NAN tribes, he realized that there was a world outside of the tribal lands, and as such he went on to the next place in the world for him, New Seattle. He has begun to integrate into that area, and now has learned a little bit of New Seattle, and of the people there. He is still learning of that world, though, and as such will continue to do work there in order to learn more about the culture.

Equipment: Staff, Various ritualistic items, Ritual Knife, Pocket Secretary, Walther PB-120
