So, are there any RPs out there that a serious to semi-serious RPer might enjoy?

I've heard that the Dreamscape is a good one, but it's a rather long thread, and I don't know if there are any facts established about it that aren't in the begining rules thread, or what characters are like there.

If there are any rules other than the ones stated at the begining then I have missed them. (or have forgotten about them )

As for the characters... well, if you want the easy way out you can just wait untill this dream ends and the next one starts so people will change characters. Else you'll just have to read a lot.

Well that sort of illistrates a point. I mean... when the dream ends, and a new begins... are all of the characters completly different? Do the characters that are played have similar characteristics (like alternate time/reality versions of the same person?)? Do the characters remember their experiances in past dreams, or not? Is it some kind of mix depending on the player in question?

The last one is true it is a mix depending on the player.   I for one play altered versions of the same basic character adjusting background and age to fit the dream with no memories of the previous dreams.  Others bring in characters with a similiar theme to them or completely different characters each time depending on how things start.  Just read the last couple dreams maybe 4 or 5 pages but really dreamscape is a new thread and it would give you a better idea of how things go if you read it all.  Most other threads you will need to read the first few pages and that last few pages just to get a handle on what is going on at the time.  An remember this is all in the name of fun so jump in feet first and have some.
