RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Shelna takes another sip of her wine and then starts to talk to Kalgarath.  "Do you know where these golems are coming from or if they have any weaknesses?  Is there anything else that we should know before we venture off to fight them?"  Shelna takes a little nibble at her food as if she is getting full and tired.  "Thank you for the information.  By all means, stay and have a little chat on a happier note if you wish it.  I could use a live bit of audience since this buntch is not really the knowledgable unlike you."

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

    [Mage's Guild: Twain and Favarin]
Master Cuthurnis thinks to himself.  'It's true that something could go wrong.  And if it does.  We retreat and let the others have their fun.  If not?  If we stay unconnected with the other guilds, we can accept more glory for the battle one.  The rewards outway the risks.  Power is what is all about these days.  It's too bad fools such as the Followers of Torm or what-not fail to see that.  Then again, That leaves us with more power...'  He continues to smile as he moves towards the door and holds up his right arm towards the door.  "Well, Good Palidin Twain, I believe we are done here.  I will discuss this with the other Masters and see what they think about this.  I, for one, give my support.  Too bad it's not so easy to give in a beuracracy such as this."

Due to years of living in the forest, Mikina's senses of hearing and smell are very andvanced, so she overhears everything Kalgarath says.

"wow, these golems sound nasty!" she exclamed, "I'm not afraid though! bring em on! tee hee!"

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Sir Twain remains calm and composed during the insult and then in a collected despairing tone, “No, it is too bad that there are many people who believe as you do; people who have forsaken the light for power.”

His gaze hardens, “If this is the path you wish to walk then so be it; if you choose to abandon those who need your help in their hour of need solely because your arrogance and individualistic narrow-mindedness led to your militaristic failure in this endeavor then I will not stop you.” His eyes are as hard as diamonds at this point. “Just remember if you continue down this path you will be consumed by it and if that does not kill you…” He trails off pointedly.

“Good day; there is work to be done, work for the good of others and not myself.” At this Sir Twain leaves at a brisk determined pace working to lock away his anger and disgust as it boils with in.

Favarin, glaring more than ever, follows Twain out. As he passes Curthins he turns his head, eyes on fire, and gives a large snort, nostrils flaring (no snot though...don't think it would be good to worse than spit on a mage ). He then fiercely turns his head and stalks off to catch up with Twain, audibly saying, "Wizards, damn the egotistical fools anyway."

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

((OOC Note:  All stuff in italics is thought, jsut incase you didn't know.))

    [Mage's Guild: Favarin and Twain]
The Mage watches them leave as he speaks.  "Your free to assume whatever you wish, but I'm feeling insulted by your assumptions about my priorities.  I've already said I would help you.  I expect you to go strait out if you want to keep any support for you that may remain within my person."  Once their out of his room, he closes the curtains that act as a door.  'They push their luck with me,' he thinks to himself.

Not too far from the mages room out in the halls, one of the sections that you seem to be passing through seems to have darkened for some reason before the glow of white glowing eyes illuminating the face of a middle aged man begin speaking with a baritone voice from a nearby room.  "Looks like the guild's blobulous bafoon turned down common sense again.  You wouldn't allow me to listen to what you have to say, would you?"

[The Sleeping Giant: Darwin, Shelna, Mikina, and Raven]
He glares at Mikina for a moment before speaking.  "We have yet to find any weaknesses in the brutes," says Kalgarath.  "We know they come from portals, but when the Mages tried to track the portals to see where they were coming from, they got nothing.  Whoever it is covers their tracks well.  Also, we've got a number advantage upon them, and yet, they were still pushing us back enough to get at the towns supplies.  ...That is, until Mages from all sorts of walks began putting up Walls of Force.  Recently, the golems have been trying to get through the walls with Nova and Explosion traps set next to them, which we find kind of odd, but we're glad those traps have been unsuccessful."

Navrick faces the man speaking to him, “I would gladly speak to you, but I would know your name first.” Navrick replies politely.

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

"Have you tried sending anyone through the portals to the other side to see where the golems are coming from?" said Mikina, leaning back in her chair, "Seems to me the best way to stop them is to cut them off at their source.."

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

He looks at the waitress that gave him the butter. "Thank you for the butter."  He then gives her ten gold pieces for a tip.

Darwin has a sip of his tea then he turns to Kalgarath.  "From what I heard the golems come and take the metals from this town, true?  You know how most people think that they golems themselves are useing the metals to create more? Well what I thought when I was rideing up here was maybe the golems are not makeing more of themselves, but a big leader type person pulling the strings.  Like a powerful mage or something like that.  I do not know if this is the true because it is only how I thought it is like."

Darwin cuts the bread in half and then puts some butter on each piece of bread.  He then takes a bite of bread.  After that he drinks more of his tea.  "Do you know if anyone has tried to follow the golems back into their portals?  If not maybe we could think up a plan to follow them and try and figure out how they are growing so fast and how to stop them.  By what you say about them it would be bad to follow to closely in would most likely be suicide to go into the portals, but if we could find out where they were we could destroy the threat from the core.  One bad thing about this plan is if there is a mass force of them in the portals we would have a hard time finding out a way in and out. Also how to sneak around without getting killed."

He take another sip of his tea and eats some more of his chicken.  Oh yeah these portals are they like a dimention door type thing, were they disappear after use or are they always there?  I think if they are always there maybe we could try to find a way to distroy them or change where they go like maybe into the lava of a volcano.  For their weaknesses, hmm let me think.  They are metal and metal melts if it gets too hot, but if it is magicaly enhanced they it won't.  They might have magic resistence.  most golems have it, but if they don't then maybe a dicintergrate spell.  Well I do not know.  Sorry for asking so many question.  I would like to know more about what we are going up against."  Darwin then drinks some more of his tea and eats a little more chicken.

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

    [Mages Guild: Twain and Favarin]
"I am Master Jordan, Shadow Mage of Kellgorn, and probably the only mage here who hasn't gained any power through Clout or Trickery like the rest of these eels.  I agree with you, Sir Twain and Favarin," he says from his shadowy room, though the shadows seem to be fading.  "Sorry about the flashy entrance, but it got your attention, Yes?" he says with a smirk.  As soon as the light levels return to normal and the glow in his eyes subsides one can tell by the look on his face that he isn't on the same thought pattern as Master Cuthurnis.  Instead, he actually shows an interest in what the two have to say...

    [The Sleeping Giant]
Kalgarath smiles at Darwin.  "I like you.  You think.  Yes, we have a feeling that someone is pulling the strings, though he has yet to show his face.  As for the portal, a team from the Ranger's Guild and a team of Shadow Assassins from the Merc Guild have tried to infiltrate the portal.  The golems saw them both easily, though, and dispatched them quickly.  The Golems seem to leave the portal open during battle, a group of four of them guarding it the whole time.  As for dimensional, we don't know.  The mages can't detect the portal, let alone attempt to redirect it.  Thankfully, wards that prevent Gate travels have prevented them from appearing on our side of the walls.  We've tried magics.  All but the strongest ones seem to fail, and even the strong magics seem to have a limited effect.  They seem to bve generally resistant to all types of magic.  Especially any sorts of magic that are linked to elements." The barbarian sighs and shakes his head lightly.  "Some fear that we may lose to these monstrousities..."

"That's no way to think!" said Mikina, jumping to her feet, "If you go into battle thinking you are going to lose, you will lose! I say that there's a way to beat these monsters and we're gonna find it!"

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

"Has anyone tried to use an invisiblity spell to discover the location.  This might work if the golemsn dont know that anyone is coming.  Right now it might be the best bet to find this."  Shelna takes one more bite of her java bird before she is done. She asks the waitress for another glass of Elverquist.  "Do you know anyone that might have e some more information about the golems.  If you do, could you please direct me towards them.  But in the mean time, I am thinking about dropping by the mages guild just to check up on some minor things.  For now, I bid you adue."  Shelna gets up and starts to head to the mages guild.  She turns to the waitress before she leaves. "Could you hold that glass for me?"

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Sir Twain seems to relax as he nods and accepts the mages invitation, entering the mages quarters he does not bother sitting this time. “I would like to get to the point of things and dispense with the pleasantries for now if you don’t mind; we have spent long enough in this guild as is and if this plan is going to take effect I must contact all the guilds before it is too late.”

Sir Twain will say pretty much what he said to the other mage, explaining how if all the guilds worked together as one force instead of a bunch of separate forces that the likely hood for success would be ten fold. He will throw in some of the typical paladin rhetoric on how it is everyone’s duty to protect those who can’t protect themselves and so on; I’d rather not type it out since I have already said just about anything there is to say in the last few posts of mine.

RE: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Favarin steps in the door and leans against the frame, crossed arms, listening but not offering anything yet. He's more accepting of this mage, mostly because he doesn't seem like the pompous, egotistical, stereotype mage. Favarin withholds judgement on him until he proves that he isn't just another mage however.
