    RE: The OOC Thread

You'll have to excuse me for being a stupid newbie, but i must know a few things: first, what does OOC stand for?

and what's going on in here?

again, my apologies, but I want to be more involved in this forum, and I have no idea what's going on.

    RE: The OOC Thread

OOC is a standard acronym for Out Of Character. Anything that you have to say outside the reality of the RP is an OOC statement.

Why there is a thread dedicated to it escapes my comprehension. I think that's because I'm new, too.

    RE: The OOC Thread

The purpose of the OOC thread is to have a place for questions just like the one that was just asked. "What does this acronym mean?" "What exactly is a dragonbunny?" "How do you get involved in an RP?" "What RPs would you recomend for someone that likes ______, _____, and ____?" This is the place to ask -all- of those questions. Further, this thread is here so that if an OOC conversation in a thread about that thread is getting in the way of RP, and it's not something that has to be settled immediatly for the thread to continue... well, that conversation should be moved here.

I hope that helped. And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Ah sou. So what would you recommend for a forum newbite with some roleplaying experience, perferably in the ways of an actual RP rather than a random fight-fest?

    RE: The OOC Thread

Well basically, anything I RP in with any other good RPers is going to get -some- good RP in, even if I have to jam it in with a plunger! Er. *cough* scuse me.

The Most Remarkable Adventures Through Space and Time III is a good one to join. It does move a bit slowly sometimes, and there is a mish-mash of different kinds of people, but that's because it's a reality traveling RP. We're currently in the reality that the previous two adventures occured in, and getting ready to leave. We're just about to start the pre-departue breakfast and planning session. Because of this, it might be best to wait until after the next reality jump to actually join. This would allow you time to create a character you really want to play, and then co-ordinate with Ben Katt on what kind of reality would be nessisary to jump to in order for your character to be there.

In fact, that RP is the main reason that I returned to the board (I got dragged into part III because I was in parts I and II).

If other good RPs that aren't just randomness and fight fests join up, I might join them too.

If you're looking for some transformation that has at least -some- coherant plot to it, you might try the potion's thread.

    RE: The OOC Thread

And, of course, if you're looking for serious RP's, you could try over at NGJP. The link is in my signature. NGJP is a community of RPers that got sick of this board constantly going down and made our own place. I'm currently running several serious RPs over there, although you do still have to watch out for a lot of random RPs as well. Anything by me is serious. That's a guarantee.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Josh: beat you to the punch by a couple of days on Remarkable.

Terra: I'm not entirely sure I want to try joining two new communities at once. And something about that link screams advertisment popups to me.

    RE: The OOC Thread

    *laughs*

There aren't any ad popups at NGJP. That's precisely why we went to Invisionfree instead of Aimoo.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Hmm. I'll check it out, then.

Afterwards: Mmm. The only thing I see as a real turnoff is the lack of new or young RPs (other than the Morrowind one that is seemingly based on a reality I am utterly unfamiliar...despite the appearence of a Jedi.), and even moreso the lack of any seeming procedure for signup or late arrival. It is not seemingly to jump in where one is not wanted.

...you seem to have missed the subforum entitled "Roleplaying Signups".

    RE: The OOC Thread

Hard to miss between those rows of bad images. What I'm noticing is that it seems more a place for bouncing ideas around than actual signups. I'm noticing the only ones that have been touched recently show signs of...well not the qualities I expect to see in a place named after a request for serious roleplay. Others do but seem fairly set and done as far as signing up.

    RE: The OOC Thread

It helps to get ideas and advice in the signup as well. And as for being started already, it's never too late to join in.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Well, everyone; what do we do about all that dumb crap from LUE?

I could easilly bury it under tons of posts, but in this forum, that could be pretty bad... and I don't know which RP's are active and not... I suppose I could just leave it up to the players, as the real RPG's start on page 2, but if you need any help, I'm in the random room.

I think that's been taken care of. Yay!
