    Guild Wars.

i know alot of people don't really play this game... but i love it! it is an MMORPG that has free online play. it has three instalments and you don't need all 3 to play. it is fun... i wanted to see if there was anyone else on here who played?

    Re: Guild Wars.

I purchased the first two expansions.  I always get to around lvl 10 or so then end up not playing for a long time.  I think part of it is that because it doesn't have a subscription fee I don't feel the "need" to play it as much as I do my other MMO accounts.

Also, while it looks decent and is fun, I "hate" asian-style click to move games.  I feel like I'm a boardgame playing piece sliding around the board instead of a free character that can roam as I please.

How many times have you encountered some hill or bump that they want you to go around, but in other games you'd jump over or just go up anyways?  Its really annoying, especially after playing DDO for a while and having such a responsive game.

Having said that, I still think its a fun game, very innovative, and wish I could dedicate a good 20 or so hours to finish the non-pvp campaigns.

ok so i do have to say i am the same way with it since it isn't a sub game... i do it too... but i do enjoy playing it cause it isn't like wow... od d&donline... and the click to move isn't so bad i think that it makes you think about where you can and can't go... it does make it kinda more realistic in my eyes because most people would not be able to go up a steep hill...

    Re: Guild Wars.

Hmm, I don't find it very realistic personally.  I know personally when I go to the mountains I can go up some pretty steep cliffs.  Plus you're supposed to be playing a hero, right?  Also I don't like being unable to jump, it seems in most comic books, anime, etc, everyone is always jumping, but not in click to move games.

Also I usually play role-playing games to envision myself as the character, being stuck to the ground makes it feel more like "just a game".

I do like the skill system because it makes you think about what powers you want and you can't have everything.  anyways its a fun game, its just too much of just a "game" for me when I normally prefer rpgs.  My wife likes guildwars too, but she stops playing after 2-3 days for several months just like me, so we just haven't gotten very far in the game.

We just got back into WoW again, and whats nice is how friendly the game is to small groups.  A lot of the time just my wife and I want to play, so games that require more than 2 people are a little tiresome, and WoW is pretty nice for that.  DDO is a lot more fun, but really you can level much faster with 5-6 people and that gets a bit frustrating.

well sometimes i really don't like dealing with other people in games so that is why i really love guild... i love the henchman... especially in nightfall cause they level with out adn you have somuch more power over them...
