    wanting opinions about a project

Hey all, I wanted to get your ideas on something before I take the time to do it.

I'm looking at taking some of what is currently running my site and turning it into a webcomic authoring toolkit that makes use of PHP/MySQL and AJAX. It would be built specifically to be easy to use and customize while including not just a user frontend, but also an admin backend for file uploads and site updates, keeping you from having to go into the database itself. I know that some of the stuff is out there already, and that it would be a bit more involved to put together than some other content management systems out there. The whole point behind it would be to have something designed specifically for webcomics and where future work and development on it is driven specifically by webcomic authors.

I know some people will be wondering why use AJAX in it, but the point behind that is simple... to try to not only cut down on duplicate code and reduce the ammount of code that has to be changed to edit the site, but also to try to cut down on bandwidth. We still have to deal with people using dial-up, and since the comics themselves can be huge and there's not much that can be done about that, I figure why not be nice to the readers and have the site use as little bandwidth as possible.

Anyway, let me know what you think... if I get interest I'll go ahead and make it.

I write the Devil's Gate so you don't have to.
