    Name your ideal "tearjerker" song.

You know, we often have some song that just makes us break down and cry, for whatever reason.

Me, it would have to be "If You Could Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot. Just makes me think about how lonely & heartbroken some people get, especially those who even may lead the brightest lives, especially if they're in the midst of a failing relationship. Outside of that fact, it also makes me think of how lonely I can feel at times, and the hurt I've felt over the years. Sad

I think I've said enough, because, as you may guess, thinking of at least the song's giving me a bad moment. Crying

    Tearjerkers

I don't have just one song. If it's sad and sung with enough feeling I will cry every time.Sad

I love it when I'm asked to play with fire.

    Re: Tearjerkers

"Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan. It came out around the same time my pet ferret (whom I had since grade school) died, and it really struck a chord with me. To this day I can't listen to that song without crying. Crying

"Slumber my Darling" by Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma is another one that gets me misty eyed. I first heard it on an episode of Alias (a show I don't usually watch, interestingly enough). Technically it's a lullaby but in this particular episode Vaughn was dying from a lethal virus and when Sydney visits him in the hospital this song plays. This context forever colored my perception of the song. For me it conjures images of someone at the bedside of a dying loved one (be it a child or lover or what have you).

I think the Firefly theme tune is pretty emotional.

    Scratchit: But he's a cripple!
Blackadder: He's not a cripple, Mrs Scratchit. Occasionally saying "Phew! My leg hurts!" when he remembers to wouldn't fool Baldrick!

"Ashokan Farewell" by Fiddle Fever (the theme to Ken Burns' Civil War series). Cool

Ah yes. That's a very good one as well.

    Re: Tearjerkers

The first song that comes to mind is "Mad World" by Gary Jules. but if i realy had to pick one... it would be: "Always will be" by Hammerfall. it's just that sort of song for me.
If you can tell me why it is or is not... I'll be impressed.
    You understood the question.

    Re: Tearjerkers

    right!

as a good rocker, I've got to say some ballad by Aerosmith (which one depends a bit on your current emotional state) but among possible conestants would be "Dream On", "Cryin' ", "Hole in my Soul"

as for Hammerfall, I think "The Fallen One" is a pretty good one too

but the underline is: There is too much good music out there to pick just one or two favorite <insert category here, possible choices include tearjerkers>

    BORK!
