Seeking writer for pop culture comedic webcomic. - Paid work if necessary.

I'm looking for a writer, to partner with for a webcomic.  Myself as the artist, you as the writer.  We'd collaborate on ideas and direction and so forth, but the scripting would more or less be your domain.  I'm certainly  not going to be telling you what to do.

Hold on, don't hit the back button just yet!

While it's not my preference, I'm more than happy (or just content?) to pay the right person.  I'm very eager to get the ball rolling on a good webcomic, and if I have to spend a few hours drawing each strip, then I'm willing to pay for the best writing I can get.  So if you prefer that system, let me know how much you expect, and I'll let you know if I can afford it.  I'd quote an amount, but I have no idea what the standard is.  I'm not unreasonable or a prat though, so just discuss it with me eh?

So, what am I after?  Well, in termso of genre, probably something with a pop culture bent.  Movies, music, gaming, etc.  I won't argue that that's a saturated area already, but ya gotta go with what ya like, right?  I'm a big fan of the likes of Penny Arcade, PVP, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Real Life, and so on, and I guess something along those lines would be ideal.

What style?  A self-contained gag or an ongoing story with a hook in each page (something to make them want to come back tomorrow for the next page), or a punchline, whatever.  It just needs to be compelling.  If it takes me a few hours to draw, I want the writing to be clever, sophisticated, witty.  Where's the motivation for me to spend those hours drawing it if I'm not in love with the writing?  I'm sure you get me.

As shown by my preferences above, I DO prefer comedy over drama when it comes to webcomics.  My style is very cartoony, so I don't want anything especially dramatic.

My artwork isn't brilliant.  I think it's a good start, but I happily acknowledge I've got a lot of improving to do.  I'm not looking for a genius writer, but I DO want someone genuinely clever and capable in their writing.  I'm not looking for something vaguely funny.  I'm not looking for something that makes me chuckle a little bit.  I want to be genuinely amused.

As I said, I'm happy to pay the right person.  I have no qualms with that in the slightest.  It's not my preference; because my preference is that we're both in it for the love of it and for future prospects, etc.  But if you're not inclined to work that way, it's no big deal for me.  Maybe you're a struggling but talented writing student who needs the cash, whatever.  That's fine!

My artwork can be seen at http://van.vox.com, in varying styles.  I'll be going with a more cartoony style for the webcomic though, along the lines of Penny Arcade and Ctrl+Alt+Del, etc.

So if you're interested, shoot me an email eh?  I'm based in Melbourne, Australia, but I'm more than happy to work entirely online if the best writer I can find is located elsewhere.

    Cheers.
