Re: Back to the Drawing Board

Here's a little something I whipped up a couple days ago when I just felt like drawing. Stylistically I was going for something more like a book cover rather than a frame within a comic. So if I ever write a novel about Ganelon's Dickensian childhood this will be the cover.  Big Smile [:D]  In any case I think it's a fairly expressive pic that puts an unlikable character in a more sympathetic light.

Re: Back to the Drawing Board

Well thats always a challenge to do and its important to do.  Some villains are made even better by adding the conflicts within them that made them dislikeable in the current age, but sympathetic none the less.  Batman the Animated Series did that with several villains.  Characters like Mr. Freeze, Clayface, The Ventriloquist, and the Mad Hatter, among others were like this.  And it really really added onto their characters.  Adding the depth like this to your characters, like Ganelon, will speak volumes about character development and story.

    Nice picture by the way.

Awwww! I shall call him 'Ganny' and give him hugs!  *ponders if this course of action will lead to Ganelon's current behavior or prevent it*  ((It could be the heat (85-fecking-degrees indoors) or the DayQuil... or both, but I am feeling particularly silly as of this post Stick out tongue [:P]))

Re: Back to the Drawing Board

I think he had a nickname that was more degrading than Ganny. Probably something like Scab or Toad (I'd use Wart, but King Arthur already took that one in The Once and Future King). He was not a happy child, subject to all manner of verbal and physical abuse even before he took to the streets. His mother beat him on good days, and on bad days when she was drunk (which was often) she'd lock him in a cupboard in the cellar where rats and co¢kroaches would nibble at his toes. His father was worse.  Poor boy wasn't born evil.  People ruined him (especially his parents). So yeah, he could use a hug. Sad [:(]

And while we're on the subject, here's a headshot of Ganelon's pop.

For some reason I think he has a glass eye. Stick out tongue [:P]

He looks like a surly sort... Prolly into roguery and illcit deeds.  No wonder mommy drank.  Still, no excuse to lock your son in a cupboard.

Ganelon looks so cute in that picture, though I don't think he would tolerate a hug from anyone at the present.
Ganelon's Dad looks like a brute.

You're right, I don't think he is the type to use after-shave.

Poor kid. Now he's all grown up and trying to amass phenomenal cosmic power to avoid ever feeling weak or vulnerable again. I wonder what the childhoods of the other Shadowpack members were like?

Yep. Because what you can control can't hurt you.

Mac's father was a prominent cleric of Bane and member of the Zhentarim. Needless to say, he grew up in an extremely autocratic household. Mac turned to thievery as a way of  rebelling while in his teens. Unfortunately, he eventually stole from the wrong people and got caught. His father didn't lift a finger to help when Mac was sentenced to be executed and he had to escape on his own. Alone and outcast, he survived using the only skill-set he had, eventually becoming the skilled thief/assassin he is today.

Teagan was one of many daughters. Her mother, who happened to be the Matron Mother her house, saw her as just one of a series, lacking the talent to set her apart from her sisters. She staged her failed takeover primarily as a way of showing her mother that she really was special.

Remus was pretty much born a psychopath, a trait his parents encouraged.
