Been trying to find one for my own site and can't find one that seems good and easy enough to understand.

Tried I-Script and nearly plotzed!

Here's what you need to make a webpage:

1-Notepad.

2-The ablility to type, or at least cut and paste the code from a site who's design you'd like to steal.

3-The patience to learn how to do stuff from the bottom up instead of looking for shortcuts that can eventually come back to bite you in the ass should something go wrong and you have no idea how to fix it.

Letsee, what happened here? Someone asks for adivce, it got given by me... admittedly in a smart-assed manner, but hardly spam.

If you think I'm wrong, show why and how I'm wrong. You don't seem to be an internet noob to me, so don't waste both our time on flambait like that. Okay?

Yeah, I'm using iScript for mine. It's got its good sides and bad.

Good: you can use a flat file, so no MySQL database is required. Once it's installed and working, it's pretty reliable. And once you get used to the template format, it's pretty easy to edit too.

Bad: If you decide to rearrange the order of upcoming comics you have to manually delete everything and re-add it. The typos in the software interface drive me bonkers. Oh, and you need to know how many days away your next post will be.

If anyone knows of a comic content manager where it's easier to adjust the buffer, please mention - I'd rather change programs now, while my database is still young, than wait :)

Try the latest beta. It's stable, and the final release of 3.0 should be out in a few days.

And I'd ignore the ignoramus who doesn't know the difference between website design software and comic updating scripts.

I second the walrus recomendation I've been using it for over a month and not only is it stable but it's really easy to edit and update.

You can do it with a free content management system:

I built the Dr Sheep and the Aardvark site with Joomla, which is an open source (ie completely free) content management system.  Not only do you get a professionally presented site (which you can put a template on to make unique), but behind the scenes you can hold all your images and strips, apply them to your pages and schedule them to publish on specific days (through a back-end admin section).

So, for example, I draw up three comics at the weekend, then (still at the weekend) set up pages to 'go live' on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while I'm miles away eating biscuits and juggling squirrels.

In addition it's easy to manage banners, links, paypal donations, etc from the admin area.

If you're into Wordpress you could check out the ComicPress theme. It's what I'm currently using for my site. Haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

Hello there,
I've been trying all different kinds of Comic Scripts lately and most of them give me errors on my webspace... Joomla actually worked and was quite nice, but I have the problem that the Archive is completely useless. It showed me all the strips of a month on a single page, which is with 560x745px sized Strips not too helpfull.
I actually wanted an archive like the one on Dr.Sheep and the Aardvark, but can't find how I get one of these...
So, Joomla would be great, if the Archive would work.

To be honest...

I gotta say that straight Html is the way to go.

Everyone says that you cant "update" well with html archives, but you can if you do it right...

I do my entire site in Html by myself, and i have no problems with updates...

I use some things called Iframes... Put them in where ever you will be needing to update frequently, and youre good.

And as far as changing the site design... thats as simple as changing the images themselves wherever you host them.

Personally I use ComicCMS, which had a single script for download that installed the entire thing, has a news, archive and template system, you can actually GET support from the writer within at most a few days and I have to say I'm very happy with the results.  There's a link off my webcomic Dragontouched if you want both a demonstration and the URL.
