Name: Ewan Cooke
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 150 lbs
Build: Light, lean
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Red
Clothing: Simple American Apparel shirts make up most of Ewan's
wardrobe, quite a few woot.com shirts in the mix, mostly with humorous
or geeky artwork. He wears mostly blue, boot cut jeans in various
shades, some style-faded, others solid color. On cold days or nights he
frequently wears an underarmor long-sleeve under a t-shirt; he doesn't
get cold easily, preferring low 60s as a comfortable temperature. He
also has a gray Quicksilver brand sweatshirt and a green Columbia
Sportswear waterproof shell. High-top Chuck-Taylors, bright green is his typical footwear; sturdy gray running shoes for anything athletic, or when he feels like it.
Other: He's nearly always wearing a simple pair of sunglasses
outside if the sun is up, whether or not there's clouds. Pierced left
ear with captive-ball ring.
Career: Freelance Web-Developer
RP Stats:
Agility - 11
Charisma - 12
Constitution - 7
Dexterity - 10
Intelligence - 12
Strength - 8
Skills:
Computer
Use: Ewan can sit down at a computer and use it, period. If it's an OS
he's not familiar with it'll take him a couple minutes to familiarize
himself with it then he's off to the races. He can also debug a lot of
average problems with systems he's not familiar with given some time to
familiarize himself with the system, more efficiently if someone is
there to tell him things like when the problem occurs and what was
going on when it first started. He loves the Windows operating system
and can diagnose almost any issue if he can see it (he's horrible at
tele-support) and in most cases he can fix it.
Networking:
Ewan also knows his way around networking intimately. He made sure to
study it intensely in college because his own networks would constantly
give him grief, he was prepared to stop that annoyance at all costs.
The result was his skill in working with networks. He can network
basically anything, cross-OS, old to new versions, you name it and
he'll do it; he'll have most of his hair at the end of the process too.
Hacking:
Ewan has a side hobby of web-based hacking. He's never done or tried to
do anything malicious, but he's successfully gained access to quite a
few website restricted areas before exiting with a grin and filing away
the procedure in his head. He keeps up to date on a few notable hacking
blogs, mostly to make sure the sites he builds are secure.
Climbing:
Rock climbing, and climbing in general, has been a passion of Ewan's
since he was in middle school, getting in trouble many a time for
climbing school buildings. He's become an above-average climber and he
climbs regularly. Ewan knows all of the proper techniques (and some of
the improper ones that work just as well) and has developed good
climbing muscles, while his total strength is nothing special, his long
history of climbing has given him excellent power-endurance and good
power while climbing. He'll climb anything from a rock, to a building,
to railings, to basically anything he can get his hands and feet onto.

Brief History:
Ewan's basically a normal, just-out-of-college guy. He doesn't have any
extreme story about the hardships he's gone through. He's been through
the hardships any boy growing up typically goes through. His parents
are still happily married, his brother is in his senior year of high
school, not doing as well as Ewan in the academic areas, but greatly
over-shadowing Ewan in the arts, which is what his brother is striving
for anyway. He mostly put himself through college, graduating with a BS
in Computer Science, 3.8 GPA from the University of Washington, though
he lives in Oregon. He married 4 months ago to his wife Sarah, who also
graduated from UW. She is now a math teacher at Astoria High School. As
for Ewan, he works from home as a successful freelance web developer,
doing some freelance programming on the side, but his passion is
website development. He knows his way around web programming languages
very well, it's been a hobby longer than rock climbing for him, and he
can't get enough of it. He's so successful due to the help of a buddy
of his in college setting up some contacts in his freshman year, then
building on those to his current, regular client base. He makes a good
living which, combined with his wife's, is more than enough to pay for
the mortgage on their small home, the bills, the food, and give them a
little spending or saving money. Which is just fine with him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being that it's the beginning of June, schools have closed down for the summer, and Sarah had found herself with 3 months of free time for the first time since she was in high-school. Sarah and a friend went to Europe for two weeks, something she'd always wanted to do, but Ewan and Sarah really couldn't afford for both of them to go. Ewan let Sarah go, wanting her to do something fun that she'd always wanted to do, he really didn't have a huge desire to see Europe, and there would always be another time when their savings account was a bit more robust. Consequently, Ewan was stuck with the prospect of having a dreary, empty house for two weeks. The night before she left, Sarah suggested a road trip, something that Ewan had always wanted to do as well, and which would be considerably cheaper than him going to Europe with her, since he'd be camping most of the time, with a couple hotel stops here and there. His car got very good gas mileage, and food wouldn't be too bad for a week or two of puttering around the country. So he waited a day after Sarah left and headed south, thinking that as good a direction to start in as any.
Ewan loaded up the car and left, casually making his way down through Oregon, then California. He hopped on Route 66 just a day ago, day 4 of his trip, and he was cruising along now, dusk setting on, with his arm left arm resting above the fully open window. The radio was playing some station he'd scanned with some music he wasn't really paying attention to. He was hoping Sarah was ok. Since she was out of the country they'd agreed no phone-calls, international phone bills not being a favorite things to see on their account. He was a little anxious, but he managed to shove it aside, he knew she'd be ok. He continued driving before letting out a yawn. He knew for a fact that there'd be no camp-sites for quite awhile, though, he thought, he didn't know if there were any hotels closeby either.
As if on command, the Eagles begin playing on the station he'd chosen and the hotel appeared just ahead.
"Ok, that's enough radio for me I think." He says as he presses the on/off knob and closes the distance between the Hotel California and himself, "I hate it when things like that happen. At least I'm pretty sure I'm not dead, or doped up." He pulls into a parking spot and turns the car off, reaching around and locking all the doors before grabbing his laptop backpack and slinging it over a shoulder. He walks inside and looks for the reception counter, feeling his back-pocket and the wallet inside it just to make sure it hadn't fallen out in the car. Once the counter is located he'll go and ask for an economy room for the night, paying with his Visa, and he'll ask whether or not the hotel is equipped with wireless internet.
Curse you stumble button!
