Wow, jeez. I can't agree with you there.
I thought that Freedom Force, for instance, was very well done, and I remember loving Maximum carnage for the Super Nintendo. Spiderman, for the playstation, was pretty good, and I hear some very positive things about city of heroes. War of the gems, another SNES game, was enjoyable, and Marvel VS Capcom is widely accepted as excellent.
Harvest moon is a GOOD game. At least, some of them are. Which one/s have you played?
I tend to have a good sense when buying games, and rarely buy ones that I end up disliking. There are exceptions to every rule, however, and Trap Gunner, Battlefield Vietnam, Champions of Norrath, and Poke'mon Sapphire have all left me burned.
The worst game I've played is probably dragon Warrior VII. I don't know exactly what the designers were smoking, but playing for a straight hour with no accompaniment but dull dialogue and tedious puzzles turns off most sane people. I played on to find that The combat was as slow and awkward as the rest of the game ; that they pushed the plot forward with as many godawful RPG cliches as they could fit, or that's how it seemed to me. But oh! It had, supposedly, 80+ hours of gameplay! What a selling point!
