    D&D characters Past and Present.

Hey all, i'm a ran of tabletop RPG's excpecially D&D. and i would realy like to know what people have played in the past or are playing at the moment. if you want to do a brief overview of a character, thats fine. if you want to type out a complete character sheet, thats also fine!

Oh! as an afterthought, can you say which generation of D&D the character was/is. E.g. AD&D, V3.5, Oriental Adventures, You get the idea...

Can't wait to find out what people like to play!

    Smile

If you can tell me why it is or is not... I'll be impressed.

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

I remember the old thread that followed this trend.  I've tried to play a bit of everything.  I've played (at least once) clerics, fighters, barbarians, monks, rogues, bards, and psions.  I don't count NPCs I've controlled as a DM.

My current character is a Psion (Kineticist) Werewolf.  I know its not min-maxed and I COULD be playing my psion to the fullest if she were human or some sort of psionically enhanced race, but I had a concept and I'm sticking to it. For more on her adventures, refer to my "Tales from the Pirates of the Raging Storm" thread.

I'm currently involved in two games. The first is a long running campaign for over three years now. I play a Human wizard (level 11), he's kind of cowardly but has a very, very sharp intellect. In the second game (just started a few weeks ago) I play a Half-Elf Half-Human Bard (level 8) who unfortunately left his band over some creative differences just before they became famous, he's pretty embittered by that. The only other character I played for a significant amount of time was an Elven paladin (level 5), she was pretty fun to play.

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

Ive played an elven druid in the first campaign (AD&D), he ended up dieing 4 times, i only got to level 5. now i'm playing a human monk (also AD&D) and he's currently at level: 7 and died once (funny story about that: we had to take down a flesh golum, after the druid cast call lightning on it it still wasn't dead, by this time it was within 2x 18 str characters to throw a monk, that monk happened to be me. so they threw me, i managed to get on its shoulder, i went to throw some magic dust in its face... and i missed. then it hit me off it's shoulder causing me to take 8d6 points of falling damage... i rolled 5's and 6's)

But another friend of mine is starting a v3.5 campaign in which i'm playing a half-elf Bard, hopefully thisone will not die. :D

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

None of my characters have actually ever died so far. It has come really close to it before now, just a single dice separated my wizard from certain death after he had taken down to -4hp by a wolf, had the ranger in our group missed her attack then the wolf would probably have finished him off.

Hasn't died yet despite my efforts. Since when has a second level character been able to 1-hit-kill a cockatrice before it even gets into combat? Accursed double criticals...

Proberly all thanks to the very charming and highly intelligent bard travelling with that party.

You did nothing, the ranger scored the crit. But you will yet be defeated! For you have not yet faced, Kobolds with class levels!

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

I am in my second DnD campain now and my girl has yet to be killed despite my DM's best efforts!

I have Menelanna, the elven ranger/wizard arcane archer. She kicks drow butt big time too. (gets +13 damage on them for different bonuses) and has a x3 crit. I am looking at making her a Deepwood Snipper too. She is one deadly archer.

I always feel that being able to cause damage from a long way away is a very big advantage Big Smile

And why might that be? I once killed 5 drow before they could even get close to me. I love doing snipper shots.

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

It must be hard for enemies to get close enough to kill you. Being an archer does give great advantages, with a composite longbow if you're lucky with your dice rolls you can start killing things up to 335m (367yrds, that's over 1/5 of a mile) away.

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

ranged combat is very important, definatly if you have a week character at lower levels. my monk character (in an AD&D campaign) took a Falchion as his first weapon profficiency because it did the most damage. however, looking back with hind sight; it would have been much easyier if he had taken a crossbow.

My wizard does well with his crossbow. If he runs out of offensive spells then he can always switch to his trusty crossbow.

Re: D&D characters Past and Present.

crossbows are for weaklings. A composite longbow is the way to go. I love my bow. A Mighty Composite Longbow +3, +2(magic) Drow Bane. I do mega hurting with it.
