Sounds interesting... I don't know if I'm well enough known on the boards to be a full-time playable character, but I don't want to be a villain or such. Then again, I don't know if you want to have a pool of "playable characters" to choose from for your party, so if I can't be a PC, you could set me up as a General on the EGS islands...
1) Character class: Monk. Monks are fairly versatile, and can work in any setting from Final Fantasy to Star Wars/Trek settings. Mind you I mean Monk as in FF1 or FFTactics monk, or Teras Kasi master, not monk as in Miroku from Inuyasha
.
2) Skills: Balance of offensive and curative ki power. You know, chakra and wave fist. In DBZ terms, think Dende's healing skills and Goku's energy blasts... only without the godlike power
. Look at D&D Monk skills and/or FFTactics monk skill lists for help. Then again, if you don't like that idea, think of it in terms of a downtuned Jedi: force push, force speed, force heal... but no lightning, choke, lift, mind tricks, lightsabres, star ships, etc.
3) Weapons: I don't want the player to have to feel the need to upgrade my weapons. Buy bracers as armor if you need to, but the only things i really need are my robes and hands (no kaiser knuckles for me)
4) Reasons: I always play the monk in D&D type games. Don't know why, I just love the character class. Besides, monks are always good to have around, right? ...right?
5) Can I help: hmm... I'd need to know the setting and direction of the game, but i could write up and send you a quick character profile that you could model the character dialogue after. I'm not good at making sprites, so I don't know how you'd feel about ripping some from FF1 or FFT. I know i keep referencing FFTactics, but I've spent about two years working on the groundwork for a sequal to that game, so i have the spell/skill lists, character level-progression charts, character profiles, storyline, artwork, etc. for most of the character classes written out already.
I don't think I could help you with the actual coding, but you said you're using some form of RPG editor right?
