    ...holy moley...

Qesun? You're a moderator for RP here? That's... a discovery.

    RE: The OOC Thread

I need to get into some more Rps besides TMRA. But there aren't enough options..we need more Rps people! And perhaps with a level of writing at least slightly above that of the Tavern style Rps that are also floating about, no offence whatsoever ment.

(Btw this post was to break my 111 post count, mainly. This is because my post count of 111 was upsetting the superstious Cricket Umpires, forcing the poor things to stand on one leg. Now they can return to proper balance, and can pay better heed to the match)

(I wonder if anyone understood that??)

See how so far Magic Minotuar is the only person to have shown any interest in the rpg I had planned, I could move it into here if more people are intereasted; I want at least 4. It's a Discworld rpg that will be useing actual rules! WHOA! Don't get scared, the rules are really simple; you can read the entire rule book in like 8-10 minutes.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Not really, there is a big difference between forum rpg's and muds.

Ahh! The rules scared me off, sorry. What? Rules ARE scary! TMRA had no rules..well I guess it did, but I wrote them particually weakly, so It didn't really matter.

Anyway, the moral of this post is that rules = scary.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Heh, I kinda like rules in forum rpgs. It keeps people from making god-like characters which of course leads to players just trying to be cooler, more powerful, and more mysterious than anyone else’s character, not to mention it can make it really irritating for the DM who wants to give the players a challenge.

Luckily in TMRA the god-monging (An old joke) rules was always in place. Though I doubt it was necessary : we shared a basic common sense on not going to those extremes. I like my Rping laid back, generally. As I said before, rules scare me!

Trying to make an RP based in a pre-existing world has problems of it's own, such as not being able to create locations at convenience, and the fact that a player could know more about the world in question than the GM.

    RE: The OOC Thread

Heh, yeah; I guess the whole god-mongering thing is a little less rampant in these forums. Thats good... but I really did want to try out Risus, it seems like such a cool, and FREE! game system. I guess I will have to try it with my real life gaming group.

Yeah that is a pretty good point, however if you do have a story set out that is taking place in an area that is already mapped out; you don't need to create a new place. It is either there or it isn't. Besides in the discworld... well things come and go like traveling shops. Anyway I doubt anyone will want to play a game with rules so I might as well forget it.

(Wow, we're ripping this thing up like a chatroom.)

Could you inform me on what Risus is?

EDIT: I'm sure you must have edited that post cos I didn't see that second paragraph at all!

Rps with strong rule sets have certanly worked here before, but It seems to me that the forums are passing through somewhat of a recesion at the moment. Why, back in the good old days...

(Now I'm feeling guilty for all these near-spam posts. The lust for a higher post count is rising! Nooooo!)

    RE: The OOC Thread

Gladly, I'll just copy and paste the intro from their main site:

Risus is a complete Role Playing Game (RPG) designed to provide an "RPG Lite" for those nights when the brain is too tired for exacting detail. Risus is especially valuable to GMs assembling a quick convention game, or any late-night beer-and-pretzels outing. While it is essentially a Universal Comedy System, it works just as well for serious play (if you insist!). Best of all, a Risus character takes about 20 seconds to create!

Risus: The Anything RPG (A Free RPG from S. John Ross, he's written some GURPS books, I don't recall which ones.)

    http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/risus.htm

Anyway, if you go to the site you can download the rules in PDF TXT or Word. Really simple, plus the rules book is really funny; gatta love all the stick figures.

I'll certanly check it out. Anyway, I have to retire to bed now so this manic chatroom like postathon can end! (Its been a looooong time since I've had to post that I was going to bed..ahhh good times good times!)

(I feel soooo dirty after this spamage.. ;_; )

    RE: The OOC Thread

Uh, Vinny? In the RP we had a sentient robot with post-nuclear reactors, an angel, three different kinds of magic, God himself, and at least one invincible rubber duck. Where did non-godmoding come into play again?
