    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Atash gives an akward look at the cloaked newcomber, but shrugs it off as he sees him join the fight along side him. Atash looks with a bit of panic at the rush of demons running towards him and Ksoo'ma and gets a sinking feeling in his heart.
'Gonna need a really lucky streak to get outta this jam...', he thinks to himself.
He then scoops up a hand full of dirt on the ground and throws it in the eyes of one of the demons.
He continues to fight dirty to take down the offenders as easily as possible.

    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

    [ Outside Burnt Offering - Ksoo'ma, Atash ]

The battle continues, for a time, with Ksoo'ma slashing away at the oncoming attackers, while Atash used trickery and more subtle attacks, slashing them while they were injured - the Samurai standing beside the warrior without honor.  Yet, the two of you are not filled with limitless energy, and you do take note after several minutes of fighting that your strength is dulling if only the slightest, which implies that you will have to leave the battle sooner or later.  You cut down them as though they were weak, but there are so many, you do have to give away ground, if only in centimeters, the creatures simply using numbers to send you backward rather than skill, though the bodies did pile up around you as you continued your slashing.  For what seemed hours the two of you fought against the Bakemono horde, yet, suddenly, they all stopped their attacking and backed away from you, as though you were some sort of dangerous opponent.  It gave you time, to catch your breath, and time for the small child you were guarding to escape into the burning village.  You were unable to see where she went, but it is likely she joined many of the fleeing villagers, running from the town in the hopes that they would be able to survive in the wilderness.

The semi-circle of Bakemono stayed in their positions, their drooling mouthes open, fangs glaring in the light.  Chains which all of them wore jangled as they moved about restlessly, hoping to get a chance to once again attack the helpless villagers.  They stayed there, and yet they soon broke formation, the semi-circle forming around a single gap - through which flaming eyes could be seen, before the body of the Akuma no Oni thundered through.  His claws gleamed menacingly as he waved his tongues about, gazing upon the two warriors who had been fighting the Bakemono - his eyes becoming lit with great passion - fighting was important.  So, his mouth opened and formed words as he spoke to the two beings, his minions cheering with his first movements, his soldiers cheering him on like the Demonic General he was.

"Ah, you fools.  You stand against me and my warriors?  They are weak, and I am not, if you have any courage, you shall stand and die from my hand.  Or, you can flee like the dogs you are."

And with that, he charged, his tongues shooting out as though they were each a whip, the three flaming weapons narrowily missing Ksoo'ma, and igniting the ground with a dark flame which seemed to shimmer in the light.  In that moment, the beastial creature brought back within his mouth his tongues, and ran at Ksoo'ma, flailing his claws about as though they were his most deadly weapons of all - which they were.  The demon prince seemed to screech with glee, as the Bakemono onlookers merely stood and laughed in their horrible voices, before running past the warriors into the town, to slaughter the people as though they were animals.

[ Among the Burning Town - Shosuro Akro]

Few could walk upon the rooftops as the Shosuro Ninjas, and few were as adept at it as Akro was.  He truly was the embodiment of the clan's dark and sinister heritage which brought out the mighty Ninja, the warrior of the night who kills with the ability of his clan.  You walked with the elegance of a cat, your clothes making no sound as you easily scaled the walls of the tea-house to bring yourself into the roof-top world of the small town.  From your higher positioning, you were able to see the many Bakemono, running through the town as they cut down the foolish villagers unable to get away from them.  At the same time, you were able to spot in the distance, a beast unlike any you had seen before, standing in front of two warriors, who danced around it like it were some mighty opponent.  It was bluish in tint, it's flesh nearly coming off it's bones, with sharp claws which it whipped about as though they were blades of death.

That caught your gaze for a time, and then, the moment when you think all has gone to the worst possible conclusion, you see something farther off in the distance.  A man, robed in black, sitting upon a horse, it is merely for a moment, but you are able to catch a decent enough look at him as you stand there upon the rooftops.  You see, a man wearing a mask, a mask of scorpion colors, wearing the clothing of a shujenga, with several scrolls at his waist.  Ninja you are, you would have been familiar with the robes of a Shujenga of the Scorpion Clan, and this was not the normal apparel, and when the masked man looks at you, you can hear words as though the wind spoke them to you - before the black robed man upon the black horse gallops off into the woods around the town.

"You only see the beginning.  You shall not live long enough to see the end."

Fell wind flows through the town as you note the man's prescence, and you are stricken with a terror which fills the soul, as your eyes glaze over for but a moment, and you are hit by a wave of shadowlands power.  It is not a physical manifestation, but merely a surge of taint, which fills you with dread - yet also brings a moment of thought to you.  And all of your being is filled with single image - a burning land, covered by Shadowlands beasts, and a single figure, a darkened emperor, a demonic emperor, sitting upon a crown of bones, each of the clan's daimyo's laying dead before him.  The feeling alone is enough to unsettle you, one trained by Shosuro's best, and the feeling in your stomach does make it appear to be very truthful.  Time doesn't give you a moment's peace though, for an arrow wizzes past your head as you take note of several Bakemono archers whom have situated themselves near the Akuma no Oni which battled the two hapless warriors.

[ Lotus Blossom - Daidoji Sha Ya Shi ]

The demon Tsuno, wielded his axe as though it were nothing, a mere stick within the hands of a child.  As you rushed toward the beastial demon, the Samurai who had moved more quickly slashed at the Tsuno, and sunk his blade within the chest of the mighty beast.  Yet this did not finish off the creature, and with a single arm movement, the Samurai who had so adamently attacked the beast, was tossed backward, flying into the table at which he had sat.  There the man lay, his blade still within the chest of the beast, who merely plucked it out and tossed it on a whim, the blade landing into the floor two feet from it's owner.  The Tsuno laughed, and prepared to run after his new prey, before you got there - and when you arrived, the tables had turned again.  You slashed, cutting a line of blood along it's arm, actually causing the flesh to bubble from the power of your ancestral blade.

The Tsuno howled in agony before turning before you, swinging his axe at you, something which you nimbly duck, slashing into his feet as he kept the slash going.  Another howl, and you had been able to give the people of the bar time to flee, and the Samurai to grab his own blade, as he stood before you, fury in his eyes.  His blade, not blessed with the power of his ancestors, did not seem to glow in the prescence of this Shadowlands beast, as yours did.  For a moment, the Tsuno clutched his wound, and then he turned before the both of you, and changed his tactics, his foot smashing into the ground as he howled a fell word - a word so horrible that your ears felt as though they would burn.  Those still within the bar fell to the ground, blood pouring out of their ears, as you fell, the Samurai ally beside you also falling, his ears and body seeming to grow fainter, your energy being sapped as well.  This beast, though fearsome, also appears to have powers over Shadowlands magic, making it a foe you should not doubt in the least.

    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Shosuro AKro then quickly runs along the roof tops to get to the archers that just shot the arrow at him.  He tries to keep low and use cover to avoid arrows and trying to get to the archers within a quick time.  Damn, who was that?  He had a mask of scorpian, but not the right robes.  Something really bad is going on here.  I can think about it a little later when I can get peace, but now is not the time nor the place.  I must take out the archers.  He then continues his path to attack the archers.

    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Koos’ma rolled and dodged the deadly claws of the powerful Oni general; this beast could tear the whole village apart by it’s self, it was time to make an exit.

Looking from side to side at the slavering Bakemono he rolled out of the way of the Oni’s attacks, his eyes fixed blurrily on the warrior who stood with him, this man had great name. He risked his life when no other would to defend the lone child, the child that wasn’t even of his own people! This man was a foreigner, who was he and why was he here? Koos’ma thought for a moment before shoving them from his mind; who he is wasn’t important at the moment, only survival.

“Come, we must flee flee, this one is too powerful to fight him is to die die needlessly.” He chittered at the man as he dove to the side and rebound into a high flying leap that brought him to the roof top behind them; spinning around he dropped to his stomach and extended his furry clawed paw, his rodent face exposed from under his straw hat. "Quick Quick, give me your hand!" he squealed eyes wide with fear.

    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Atash watched with amazement as the small cloaked figure lept up to the rooftops.
    "Holy shi-"
He then looked at the Bakemono he stand alone with in the streets and laughed nervously.
    "Gotta go."
He lept up, grabbing the paw of Ksoo'ma, and, with his help, lifting himself onto the roof.

    RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

"Curse you you foul beast.  Curse you to the ends of time."  Daidoji Sha Ya Shi tries to get up but her ears are still in pain and she falls back down due to her having no balance.  Then she tries to stand up again and is able to do so with a hard time, leaning against the nearest table.  Then the grabs her sword and prepares to attack the beast once more to try and finish it off so it won't hurt anymore innocents.  "You have hurt too many people for me to give up now.  You shall perish and feel what you have done to so many."  Once she is able, she charges the beast one last time, with a fury in her eyes and swings at the beast's neck to try and finish it off.

    Re: RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

[ On the Rooftops - Shosuro Akro, Atash, Ksoo'ma ]

The land itself seems to surge with fell power as all three of you dance up on the rooftops, dodging the arrows whizzing past as well as the flailing fists of the Oni General which smash into the edges of the roof, giving Atash only a moment of rest before the beast's claws seem to latch onto the side of it, and the crunching sounds being no good sign, telling that the creature was attempting to pull itself up onto the roof.  It was far too large, and Ksoo'ma knew that, but it would bring the rooftop down and kill the mortals who couldn't possibly survive such a fall, unlike the Oni General.

"Flesh shall be tasted, by my tongues!"

Shouted the beast, as a lashing of tongues flailed again toward the warriors, but they were saved by a single act by Akro, who managed to bump into the group by accident and take the three of you below the tongue lash.  But little time remains before the creature will pull it's vast weight upon the structure, which will easily topple it.  There are few options, but the fire and smoke show that the town is going to be overrun before-long, as a keen gaze notes that the larger more powerful Shadowlands beasts are coming from the woods, more Tsuno and Lesser Oni which would be far more challenging to take on.

[ Lotus Blossom - Daidoji Sha Ya Shi ]

The fell beast's flesh burns before your eyes as your sword once again leaves a trailing mark against it, before gutting it.  With a gurgle, the beast falls to the ground, the lucky critical enabled by the luck of your ancestors.  His eyes grow faint and listless before all of his body's normal movments cease and the room is entirely silent for but a moment.  Then the door bursts open as the Bakemono reach the bar, using their chains to grab any nearby people, too many of them for you to save, and the bodies of the patrons lay the ground in moments, the only escape laying before you in the shattered wall the Tsuno fortunately left you...

    Re: RE: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Wasting no time Ksoo’ma loped across the roof top on all fours making a flying leap to the next building. Spinning around he motioned the others to follow as he shouted to them over the din of battle… no, not battle, over the slaughter. “Hurry there is no hope hope, we must run run or we will all die die!” Pointing off into the town, “We must flee into the woods away away from the shadowlands creatures!”

    Re: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Shosuro Akro watches the nible person leap to the next building. He quickly runs to the edge and leaps over the gap to the next building also about as easy as Ksoo'ma. "I Agree with you there is no hope of surviving this fight. There are too many of the shadowland beasts." He says to Ksoo'ma. As he turns to look at the Lotus Blossom. 'Don't be a fool and die samurai.' He thought to himself as he turned back to the other two he was with now.

After realizing what is going on, Daidoji Sha Ya Shi says to herself, 'Curse them for doing this and I will not forgive them. But I must escape in order to continue my journey. Forgive me ancestors for leaving all of this in ruin.'

She then sprints as fast as she can out of the shattered wall and starts to head for the stables with great speed.

Atash leaps from building to building after Ksoo'ma and Akro with a little bit of difficulty. "What is up wit' you people? Leaping with no difficulty from building to building. I bet you're some sort'a bandits or somet'ing, cause no normal fighters are generally accustomed to jumped from roof top to roof top." he says with a sneer, following the two.

    Re: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

[ In the Woods Outside Town (Again) - Ksoo'ma, Atash, Shosuro Akro, Moshi Chiang ]

The village aflame behind you, the three warriors charged through the woods like their was no turning back, or rather, the two warriors and the careful ninja.  Speeding through the scattered trees before you, the sounds of battle fade only slightly, as the absent sounds of the woods create an unsettling presence within all of your hearts.  A snap of a twig hear, a startled bird there; those are the only interuptions to the silence which has fallen upon this place, and the definite change of pace allows a moment's reprieve from the constant speeding away, if the group would take it.

Which you find yourselves forced to do, somewhat winded from the struggle with the demon as well as the Bakemono which had gotten in your way upon the trail through the woods.  Taken care of, easily enough, but the mere effort itself seemed draining, somewhat, to the humans at least.  A feeling of uncertainty floating on the breeze, just as the corrupted air burns the lungs of those who were not adjusted to it's taint.  Akro and Atash, you feel the pain and the bite of the Shadowlands taint, recognizable from the stories told by Crab Samurai, the burning of flesh and death on the air, the acridness like an acid sizzling down your throats to settle in your lungs.

At the same time, Moshi Chiang, you note the shift in atmosphere as you begin to near the small village of the Crane.  The air seems to breathe plague upon the land, the acrid burning of flesh filling your nostrils, the sound of fading howls and screams dying within your eardrums, and the unsettling feeling that you are being watched seems to fill your very mind.  Even the horse beneath seems to sense the great turmoil in the air, sniffing and twisting around, becoming harder and harder to control until THWACK.  The tree branch knocks you from your horse, with enough of a sound to startle the already crazed beast into utter madness, sending it off on a run to who knows where.

Yet the daze that falls upon you is broken by the sounds of chains being dragged across the ground, the sound of gutteral laughter followed by the gledefully insane grinding of teeth against flesh and bone, a noise you knew from the tales of Samurai whom had encountered them: the sound of Bakemono.  Your eyes quickly fall upon them, a group of three who are standing over a corpse munching on the flesh while dragging it onward, watched over by a lesser oni of somesort, a hideously large beast with the head of a Horse, a cold iron mace in his hand.  Before you can even cry out, you see his eyes gaze upon you, and with a gutteral cry, the Oni points his mace at you and curses the Bakemono onward, giving you little opportunity to respond.

Ksoo'ma, Atash, and Akro, you catch the sound of the Oni's cry, and the grunting roar of the Bakemono going after their new prey, as well as the sight of a man wearing somewhat fancy clothing fall from his very startled Horse.

[ Stables - Daidoji Sha Ya Shi ]

The village about you has fallen to ruins, as the last armed peasants rally against a massive horde of Bakemono and numerous Lesser Onis.  The looks of fear in their eyes creates a moment of absolute sorrow within your heart, but you are given little time to wait as you must pass by in order to escape the doomed town.  Your destination, the stables, lays before you almost untouched, although you do note the sounds of Bakemono chains ever gaining, and without a moment to spare you reach the stables, only to sadly note that the place has a few unwanted guests - the newly risen corpses of some of the unlucky villagers.

With their flesh covered in bite marks and sores, the souless beings gaze at you through listless eyes, their ragged clothing hiding nothing as they slowly approach you, their mouthes open in a silent moan, their finger nails seemingly long and gruesome, the elements of the Shadowlands taint defiling their already decaying forms.  They would soon become mere beastial zombies, but you knew that there was little you could do for them.  Your horse, however, lay frightened in the back of the stables, if you could only reach it, you would be able to escape to the only direction left to you...

    [ Woods - Togashi Kuwata ]

The soothing woods filled your mind with peace as you walked, an inner sanctity untouched by mortal troubles, by the sorrows of life, that inner peace that all Togashi monks strived for.  That peace filled you for but a moment, before being shattered by the permeated taint of shadow which filled and corrupted the air, the wind carrying a burning acrid flavor which turned the peace into an insantiable agony.  But your peace of mind, however slight, allowed you to see the people in front of you, a man in blue cloth, possibly of the Crane clan, carrying a Polearm weapon, fighting off three Bakemono, while a mighty warrior charged the lesser Me-zu Oni, the monstrous creature which was obviously in charge of the three weaker monsters.

A moment, you are given, before you notice that the group of four was not alone, the rest of ther contingent slightly farther to your right, the group approaching the sounds of combat.  You knew there was but a moment before they came, and the eight Bakemono which were approaching, and the two Common Oni would definitely be something the group was probably ill suited to combat - alone at least.  The choice is still yours, to do what you will, but your spirit compells you to help them, the power of the heart lashing out against the demons - shattering their bones and killing them with the power within you, rather than power of steel.

    Re: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

"Sonnuva-..." Chiang rolled backwards, holding his naginata out defensively... the smell alone would have made him recoil, and the beings before him were even worse... he had a headache from the branch, which made it so much easier on him. He scowled, examing the creatures. "Well, I see you all just got back from the party. I can tell which one of you won 'Ugliest Costume...' A face like that should be outlawed, or at least locked  away somewhere." He pointed at the Oni with the polearm, rolling back again into a standing position... just because he was outnumbered, he couldn't help but taunt his oppressors... not that he was all that confident he could beat them in these numbers. Quite the contrary. "I can see my services won't be needed in the city... well, least not by the living... by the looks of them, I'll be needing my own services...

"That's just great." He looked at the Bakemono, not enjoying the grating sound of chains... he was disgusted by thier appearance... and thier obvious lack of respect for human life. He bit his lip, keeping his eyes open for an escape route... then shook his head. "No... no running. I came to extend my services. They made me loose my sale. Now, I've got to show them what happens when you anger a merchant... especcially..." He raised his naginata, spinning it above his head. "I care not who or what you are, Spawn of Filth... I am Chiang Lung of the Mantis Clan, and I will wash away your sins... and your petty mockery of what we call life!"

    Re: Warrior's Dance [Rokugan]

Ksoo'ma fought his instincts which told him to run, there was an innocent in trouble and it was his duty by his code of Bushido as taught to him by the Lion to defend those in need. It was necessary to save this man from harm even if he was human; such acts are strong in name.

Ksoo’ma dropped to all fours and moved swiftly and silently through the trees out of the Oni’s peripheral vision before breaking into a sprint that could best the fastest of horses. Springing into the air he drew his katana the blade flashing brightly in the air as it bit deep with three swift strokes before he landed lightly on the far side of the Oni.

Now that he was close enough to focus his poor vision on the lumbering beast he could clearly see the equine features and thought that perhaps this wasn’t the best of ideas… It looked to be what the Crab referred to as a Me-zu oni, a vicious and powerful demon, yet this one looked to be a runt; the fact that it was only commanding a retinue of three bakemono spoke to its low rank in the demonic army.

Without a moments hesitation, Kuwata rushed to the aid of the man.  Clutching his staff tightly, he leaped into the air and delivered a crushing heel-kick to the spine of the nearest Bakemono.  Then, using its head as a springboard, Kuwata jumped and landed next to the man with the Polearm.  "Where one strand of twine will easily fray, many bound together are nigh unbreakable," he says flashing the man a warm smile, and delivering a crushing blow with his staff to the head of the Bakemono he previously kicked.
