    Re: Story: Festivities: Feb. 27

I am utterly amazed at how neatly Dan has tied these story threads together.  I had completely forgotten the "Star Trek shirt slap fight" between Tedd and Susan, and how that was the excuse the principal had used to justify the school uniforms.  Ironically, the only two activists rebelling in their own ways against the uniform order are the two who had caused it in the first place.

And now, here are the two culprits, mysteriously TGed, face to face with the student council leader assigned to implement the uniform order!  I don't know where Dan is going to take this, but it is certain to be great!!!  I can't wait to see how this unfolds.

And Tedd thought he'd dislike the TG party merely because it might disrupt his relationship with Grace!  Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

As head of the student council, there is every reason to suspect that he can recognize Tedd (especially after the goo incident).  I don't think TGed Tedd looks sufficiently different from his normal appearance to escape recognition.  And while TGed Susan may look very different from her normal self, the council head must surely recognize the "same" speech with which Susan disrupted the School Uniform Fashion Show.

Susan's words that "This isn't over" are coming back to haunt her.  ROTFL!!!!

For me, it was far from predictable.  After I read Panel Four, and before I scrolled down to Panel Five, the person I thought might be the delivery guy was the kid who respects Tedd's lifestyle.  Or maybe his obnoxious friend Tony.  But him being the council president is a much more interesting plot twist.  Way to go, Dan!!!

Memo to Tedd:  Next time, have Ellen answer the door.

Well, pizza guy has not been as swift on the uptake as I'd feared, but don't count him out yet.  Thanks to Nanase, he'll be here for a while longer.  Let's see if he can get past the doorway next time.

Dan, you are so good with faces!  I know it's not easy with simple, line-drawn cartoons.  Even big actors sometimes rely more on gesture and dialogue to express themselves.  But here we have six different emotions nicely conveyed by Tedd using six different expressions.  My favorite is "stymied" in Panel Two.  LOL!!!  "Relieved" in Panel Five is very cool, too.

The "glowing money" FX is great, as well.

    Re: Story: Festivities: Mar. 6

I had hoped / feared that Pizza Guy (a.k.a. Matt Cohen) was going to be curious enough to finagle his way past the door and get drawn in somehow to the party events.  But Tedd has managed to get rid of him -- for tonight.  Aaarrrghhh!!!  Now I'm going to be curious as to how the Cohen plot thread plays out -- but nothing is going to happen until the gang returns to school on Monday -- and who knows how long that will take in real time!!!  It could be years before we see him again!!!

Somehow, I doubt that Sarah's scheme has any chance of succeeding.  The "juiciness" of the gossip that Tedd is presumed to crossdress while having some other boys in his house arguing about skirts easily outweighs the leverage value of Matt being only 17 while delivering pizzas by car.  And just how is Sarah so certain that Matt is only 17?

Besides, they cannot possibly even begin to implement leverage until they see Matt again on Monday.  But what if, say, Matt figures out that Tedd was the person in the girl's uniform while he's driving back to the pizzeria, and when he gets there the jock Tony comes in to buy a pizza, and Matt tells Tony what he just saw.  Sarah can blackmail Matt only if she knows that Matt has recognized Tedd but has not yet told anyone -- and even if it worked it would only prevent him from openly telling about Tedd.  He could still start rumors if he does so anonymously (e.g. bathroom wall).

And on top of everything else, the leverage power entirely evaporates the day Matt turns 18.

All in all, despite her imitation of Mr. Burns, Sarah is not really cut out to be an evil scheme meister.

EDIT:  Oops!  I read Dan's post on the other forum (for those of us who didn't get it) that Sarah is making a joke, and knows full well that her "plan" is no plan.

    Hooray for plates!  LOL!!!

Again, four great faces for Tedd to communicate four quick changes of emotion.

    Panel Three is soooooo sweeeeeet!!!!!

But it really would have made more sense for Missy Elliot to have been the one hiding in the kitchen, and to have Ellen answer the door.

    Re: Story: Festivities: Mar. 13

My first question is:  Does Nanase always eat like that, or are table manners determined by gender form?  (I'm willing to go with either theory.)

Next:  Why does Mr. Nanase opt not to have his body glow?  Especially since the additional energy needed would help burn off some of that pizza!  LOL!

Third:  How can I get in on this calorie-burning-magic-spell diet???

Boy, for such a tiny body, Mr. Fairy-Nanase sure has a loud voice!

For a moment, I thought Pizza Guy had somehow come back.

Love Panel Two!  Ellen is in such a thoughtful pose.

Hmmmm...  A comic that's weird, but you like it anyway.  I'll have to ponder that a while...

    Re: Story: Festivities: Mar. 20

Yay!  I've been waiting so long to see the journal again!

Well, that's a surprise!  Susan's hating all males was a roundabout way of cutting her father slack for his promiscuity.

I think that so far, Susan is ahead of the others by several lengths in terms of profiting from this evening's transformation.  (With poor Justin being the most likely to be hurt by the party.)

Now, the big mystery is what is going to be so awesome that Sarah saw the need to hunt Susan down for it.  So far as I know, the only pre-planned party activity still unfulfilled is for Miss Justin to have fun doing Missy Elliot's extremely long hair.  Even though this would not explain Sarah's enthusiasm or the requirement of Susan's presence, I'm going to go with this theory for lack of anything else.

    Re: Story: Festivities: Feb. 24

Do we actually ever see the skirt in that sequence? Besides, I'd give that story the same status as NP as far as continuity-relivance goes.

Just noticed that we actually see the skirt the following day.

But I'll grant you that the status of the "Q & A #2" comics are open to debate.

    Karaoke???

Ummmm.  That is not something that I associate with the word "awesome."

I sincerely hope that Dan knows where he's going with this (lol) ...

Please, Susan, go back downstairs and continue your epiphany!  Pleeeeease!!!

    "It was Ellen's idea."

Sarah can only mean the Evil Archvillain Ellen!

Yikes!  They're really gonna go through with it!  Won't somebody save us???

Yay!  My favorite gesture, in Panel Five.

Obligatory reference to relevant NP comic

Does this change its canonical status?

    Re: Story: Festivities: Mar. 27

    I agree with Susan.

Favorite gesture in Panel Two.  But shouldn't Ellen be gleeful, watching her evil plan unfold?

Nice FX in Panels One and Four.

And why aren't Nanase and Ellen closer together?  Are we going to have to wait for the karaoke to end for that plot thread to pick up, too?

Missy Elliot looks really embarrassed for Sarah.

Be firm to your principles, Susan!

(Or, just get it over with.  Either way.)

I guess he's getting tired of the narration by now.

    Re: Story: Festivities: Mar. 31

Well, this karaoke episode is moving along faster than I would have dared hope.  Three down today.  And we don't even need to know what songs they've been singing.

Why are the Immortals returning to the plotline?  Simply to narrate?  The June 6 to 17, 2005 episodes (and one of Dan's comments at the time) had led me to believe that Dan intended to get them and Mastermind "out of the way" before the party started, and then to continue with the party storyline uninterrupted from that point on.  Maybe that's not going to be the case?

But ... karaoke???  How is karaoke going to be the catalyst for other-dimensional meddling with our heroes???

If Dan can turn this karaoke subplot into a crucial turning point within the whole EGS saga, my hat will be off to him!  I don't think it's possible, but I bet Dan will find a way to do it!

    Re: Story: Festivities: Apr. 5

    "I need a reason?  I'm quirky."

Okay, my wild guess is that Ellen's chosen a song that will give some sort of coded message to Nanase.  It'll be embarrassing enough, if others read through it, but if she goes last she can hide if she wants to afterwards.  It'll probably also be a little embarrassing if Nanase decodes the message.

I love the bubbles around Nanase's head in Panel Two!

I think maybe Miss Tedd might have been happy to get an excuse to escape from of the cozy situation she'd gotten into with Mr. Grace in Panel Three.
