Creating a conflict with the PC's will never lead to a great gaming session. As a DM you should be percieved as fair and a good story teller/manager. Nobody is having fun if they think that everytime they blink the might bleed to death.

I managed to scare my players into thinking they are all going to get killed by a pack of Derro. I consider that my greatest achievement to date as DM because the PCs are higher level and with familiars and animal companions actually outnumber the Derro. I guess it must have been the way I done it with tricking them twice in just a couple of rounds.

@Nocharim, an ordinary housecat does 1d2-4 points of damage on a claw and 1d3-4 on a bite. On a confirmed critical, the most damage a cat could do would be 2 points. If the cat got a critical on every attack (two claws and a bite) the total damage would still only be 6 points. The fighter would be on -3 and bleeding but far from dead. What AC did that character have? A cat only gets +4 to hit on a claw and gets -1 on the bite attack.

1st level fighter and he had 7 AC hence he wanted to be fluffy and not use armor (and his Dex roll was very very bad). Crit + Crit + Coup De Grace (Also a crit) = Death.

Quite a few people seem to be upset about their threads going off topic. Personally I would be proud that any thread I made had got long enougth to need to adapt to the ever-changing environment of the forums.

Edit: Hey, look at that! I did make this thread! so that means that is it mine, and people can chat about any RPG related stuff.

Hello Kitty!

I need to decide on whether to play an aasimar, a half-celestial elf or an elf with the celestial bloodline. I'm making a sidhe priestess for a D&D game set in a fantasy Roman Britain. My previous character, a danaan druid/sorc geomancer, surrendered to the fomor (the Bad Guys) to free her son and her son's father. Until the other PCs rescue her or she manages to sneak out of a city full of dark elves, I need another character.

Any suggestions?
