I've got two stories. They weren't particularly funny at the time, but they were once I was sure everyone was alright.
Story 1: It's Grand Final week down here, so for the Australian Youth Choir (AYC), that means one week of constant performances for lunches and dinners of seperate clubs and groups. On Monday, I was at the back of the stage (same as Fri. before) next to my best friend. We go to get off the stage after rehearsal using the stairs and she walks right off, expecting the stairs to be wider than they were. We caught her, but she knocked into the backdrop and made the whole thing swing. (Not very funny actually, is it?)
Story 2: Another performance. Tuesday night. We have been given no food or drink, been in a boiling hot room and now have to stand on stage (straight, smiling and most importantly, motionless) for 10 minutes waiting to sing our second song. One of the girls suddenly pitches forward into the girl in front of her (she fainted). They both fall off the stage and crash into another girl. All three end up in a heap on the floor. And we were trying to create a good impression! Nobody was hurt, and the girl who fainted was alright. As I said, not funny at the time, but funny later when everyone's alright and you can remember the image of people landing on each other like dominoes.
I love it when I'm asked to play with fire.
