There is enough to keep you in your seat for the entire length of the movie. A few parts drag but I would recommend going to see it for if only to see if you can pronounce all the names correctly .

Sean Bean played Boromir in LotR.

Yeah, Id like to see it, but Im saving my money for Fahrenheit 9/11 and Spiderman 2 if I had another 10 bucks, it would be high on my to-see list.

Ah, hence why I didnt recognize his name right off the bat.

    RE: Movie Critic Corner

Well after watching a documentary based on the biggest flop in history, Heaven's Gate (1980) which in fact bankrupt the studio supporting it, I became fascinated in the flops in history.

Heres a complete list of the big financial failures by way of worldhistory.com

    List of Films

1988)">The Adventures of Baron Münchhausen (1988)

    Budget: $40,000,000

    US Gross: $8,083,123

2002)">The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002)

    Budget: $100,000,000

    US Gross: $4,411,102

    Battlefield Earth (2000)">Battlefield Earth (2000)

    Budget: $73,000,000

    US Gross: $21,471,685

    1997)">Batman and Robin (1997)

    Budget: $110,000,000

    US Gross: $107,285,004

The forth and last film in the Batman franchise was the last one made. Each film cost more that its predecessor, and the gross decreased with each. Even though this film took a further 130 million dollars internationally, so was a money maker for the Studio, Warner Brothers decided not to continue.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)">Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)

    Budget: $137,000,000

    US Gross: $32,131,830

The losses from this film almost bankrupted Square Pictures

    Heaven's Gate (1980)">Heaven's Gate (1980)

    Budget: $60,000,000

    US Gross: $50,016,394

Oh, but Im not done yet.  This is a list of the worst movies of all time in their opinion (which is pretty good)  Ive seen a couple of these (and have actually reviewed one - Howard the Duck. )  And I have seen a couple others, Freddie Got Fingered, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Battlefield Earth, Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2, Tron, Kazaam and Batman and Robin.  So check out the list, see if there is anything you recognize--agree with or disagree with....post it here!  I want to hear your opinion on the big bombs!  There are some hilarious films to look at here!

    http://www.worldhistory.com/wiki/L/List-of-movies-that-have-been-considered-the-worst-ever.htm

That said, theres one more thing I want to bring out to your eyes-- One of those in the list is Plan 9 from Outer Space, which I am now incredibly anxious to see.  Because by the sounds of it, it is hilariously bad...check this!

Plan 9 from Outer Space is a 1959 Ed Wood science fiction horror movie. Originally titled Grave Robbers from Outer Space, it was renamed because of its previous "sacrilegious" title, which did little to save it from being widely regarded as the worst movie ever made. The movie earned Wood a post-humous Golden Turkey Award.

The plot involves aliens who come to Earth to stop humans who have developed the ultimate weapon—one that can explode the "particles" of sunlight—and the aliens try to conquer Earth by resurrecting corpses from a cemetery.

Actors screw up their lines, night turns to day and back in a single scene, and the movie's top billing goes to an actor who died early in the filming (Bela Lugosi) and appears only in a couple of scenes at the beginning. Later in the film, Lugosi's character is doubled by a taller, younger, blonde-haired man (some say Wood's chiropractor) holding a cape over his face. The special effects consist of pie tins substituting for UFOs and multitudinous stock footage.

The movie has a "campish" or cult film popularity among those who appreciate hilariously bad motion pictures. Such appeal is heightened by quotable lines such as, "Inspector Clay is dead. Murdered. And somebody's responsible!"

In 1994, Tim Burton directed a fictional biopic, Ed Wood, based on the making of this film, starring Johnny Depp in the title role and Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi.

Because of the film's strong reputation, and a Bell Labs Research Division penchant for choosing names 'outside the usual range,' a successor to the Unix operating system was named Plan 9 in honor of this film.

I love that quote:  "Inspector Clay is dead.  Murdered.  And somebody's responsible!"  HAHA!  Oh this movie must suck so much!

EDIT-Here is another list of big financial failures:  Some are repeats of the other list, but many of these are newer:

    RE: Movie Critic Corner

Well for the first time that I can remember, there is a documentary as the #1 movie in America, and it is the movie I went to see.  Ill be reviewing 2 movies in this post, the documentary AND one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

    Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) (R)

The documentaries base is really the truths behind the white house and their actions revealed.  Detailed explinations and behind-the-scenes footage of all the contravercial topics that have made Bush's presidency.  From the election, to 9/11, to the Patriot Act, to Afghanistan, to Bush's past, to the Iraqi War, it covers it all.

Now I know what youre saying--youre saying you dont care for politics, and I dont much either, but its important to know whats going on in this world we occupy.  This film tells the story the White House doesnt want anyone to know.

Now people say the biggest problem with the movie is it is a muck-raker and it is too one sided.  Well thats Michael Moore.  Hes got a point of view, and he is conveying it.  Whats wrong with that?  If you object so much, make a movie countering what this movie says.

This movie conveys the truths in ironic ways, often funny, but then there are also very grusome scenes and very depressing ones too.  Thats just the way it is.   The movie never dragged on and Moore was on a blue streak tearing Bush apart, and rightly so.  But man, there were hilarious scenes.  You should just watch them for that purpose.

Only problem with this film to me is that its often very fast paced, so its a LOT to absorb if its new to you.  The whole oil-corporation behind the scenes was new to me, and it went FAST.   Moore could have also shown more of the ignorance that some people have, and used it as irony.  But that is just a minor critique I would have done.

If you are anti-Bush like me, you will like this film and go with its flow, and learn a few things.  If youre pro-Bush, watch this film, then see where you feel you are at.  If you are neutral, watch this film, then see how neutral you are.  Every American should see this film, period.  But you dont have to be American to watch this film to enjoy it.

    9 out of 10

Now, one of the worst films I have ever seen:

    Freddie Got Fingered (2001) (R)

The general plot is a 30 year old slacker cartoonist that lives in his parents basement played by Green wants in on a TV deal, he also has a great deal of anger towards his father, played by Rip Torn.

Now the real question is:  What the hell was I thinking when I flipped channels and stopped at this monstrosity?  Was it because I was bored?  No, Im not much of a masochist, so I would have proceded.  Was it because it looked interesting?  Hell no!  Was it because the remote control broke?  No.  Its because I was curious as to what extent Green would take his movies.  I knew it would be gross-out humor, but I wasnt QUITE ready for this.

For those who have never seen gross-out humor, this movie would be like a baby whod never been on an amusement park ride that chose to take the monster roller coaster right off the bat.

This movie has nothing redeeming about it.  It is grotesque in every way, shape, and form.  I got no satisfaction from watching this movie, and had a terrible time just watching this film.  It was murderous.  But I wanted to sit through it anyway, as I wanted to see how much I could truly hate one film.

You get the feeling that Green thinks he is terribly funny when really hes just terrible.  He seems like he thinks hes amusing everyone upon every action he makes and every bodily function joke he throws out there.  But its just horribly offensive.

Green is one of those actors who because of this movie and based PURELY on this movie is on my most hated actors list.  It was just that bad.

Hmm, I will have to watch that documentary. I just don't know if I should watch it before I return or wait until I am back on the US soil.

As for Tom Green I could not agree more. I dislike him and his style of humour. I can not believe that Drew Barrymore was married to this jerk.

    When are you coming back?

Id recommend seeing the film before the election.  Because if Kerry wins, it will feel less relevant, though it will still convey its point.

And Tom Green is an ass.  This was the first time Id seen him on TV, and I saw commercials about more of his stuff, but it all made me cringe.

Capital idea.  Anyone want to see a pro-Right Wing DCI flash movie dissing Michael (Damn hippy) Moore?

Well I see your political status

Well they say there is an anti-Michael Moore film coming out later this year.

But Id suggest seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 anyway, even if you do hate Michael Moore.

This film is NOT Anti-American.  Its Anti-What America's turning into and Anti-Bush.  Dislike it or not, its the truth, and its scary, but you got to know it.

That said, it IS anti-war, but hardly hippy...more like protest-like.  War is not just war, it is death.

    RE: Movie Critic Corner

Yeah I went and watched Fahrenheit 9/11 opening night with some friends. The movie and the theater was patrolled by cops incase an anti bush riot/protest sprang up after the film. I loved this movie, I am moved to say that this film is ranking up in my top favorite films. If you liked this one you should also see Bowling for Columbine, another Michael Moore flick about gun control and the violence of the US.

The Bush administration REALLY didn't want this film to come out according to Michael Moore's news letter they went around threatening movie theater owners to make sure it isn't played, and before this happened they got the original producers to drop the film. Luckily Lionsgate films, a Canadian film industry, picked it right up.

Good old Canadians! Sounds an interesting flick F9/11. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD or TV (I don't think it's being shown over here). But in fairness I think we should all view this pro-right wing DCI flash movie just to see the balanced arguement .

It'd probably just be a variation of episode 76 (http://www.dungeoncrawlinc.com/comic76.html) but with Michael Moore replacing the gnoll.

@Twitch Wow!  One of your favorites!   Well I think its a great film, but it doesnt breach my top 25 I dont think.  It would definetly fall somewhere in my top 50 though.  But LionsGate will sure not regret picking this up.  This could be a break for their company, as they seem relatively new or unheard of.  This is the #1 movie in America, and its bloody documentary!  This is the biggest documentary percentage wize since Nanook of the North in the 1920's.  I DO plan on watching Bowling for Columbine...Im very interested.  Note--this is the first documentary I have seen outside of cable.

@Kayless Ah!  Thats one of my favorite episodes

    RE: Movie Critic Corner

@ Tybaltus It is one of my favorites not for the story or anything like that, but because it is saying things that desperately need to be said. It is telling the people things that they need to know, things that the Bush administration didn't want them to know. I hate speaking of this sort of thing online because it usually leads to an argument or something but I share ideals with what michael moore is saying, most of the things explained in this movie me and my friends all knew about. He is preaching to the choir in our case and I intend to get as many people to see this film as I can. If things don't start changing and this sort of thing isn't allowed to happen, well... I guess we should have paid a little more attention to Thomas Jefferson when he said a revolution every 20 years was needed to keep the government from eroding at it's core. Vi Va La Revolution!

    RE: Movie Critic Corner

The government says it needs my chickens and grain in taxes because otherwise they can't support me and make this a great nation, so I lose all my chickens and grain of which I could live and give me very little money to survive.
They say the government is bad and needs to be overthrown, they say they will be better rulers, but an army marches on it's stomach so they take all my chickens and grain for the good cause and leave me to starve.
And when they fight, they ruin my fields with shelling and gunfire, tear down my chicken coop and destroy my house. But I'm lucky it's all for the good cause.

I don't believe in revolutions any more then I believe in enlightened leftwing marxism or right wing facism.
But I know what you mean Twitch, some things have to be said, just don't think that just because Micheal Moore speaks up he's always right or can provide a better alternative.

Anyhow, I just got Princess Monoke!
