TWC Continues to change (bits and pieces at a time)

A couple changes were made over the past few days, I removed the name of the character from the text at the bottom of the voting gateway, and made some general performance increases across the board.

C&H has reconquered the #1 spot, I guess we can't underestimate the power of determined fans.  I'm sure the guy in the college computer lab running around from pc to pc voting is going to get tired soon, but for the moment, votes continue to pour in. (just kidding C&H, good job for pushing your fans to rise to the occasion).

A couple things we're working on here that hopefully shall go live to the list soon.

Multiple lists.  In addition to the Top TWC webcomics that we've always had, there are going to be a few additional tabs.  The additional tabs are going to be experimental lists that rate by various other factors.  You'll be able to click through the tabs and see various alternate lists, same comics, but valued differently on each.  Yes that means we'll be using additional ram for each list, its such that I think I'll probably double the RAM of the TWC server from 2GB to 4GB.

Interviews are coming, but they are going to take more time to do right.  Something that will come much sooner is security pages.  You'll be able to look at various statistics for a webcomic.  If we get the RAM upgrade soon, I might even open up some of the site statistics (reporting takes cpu power, but RAM enables it to be cached).

A plaintext banner link was created.  Basically its just a link to a page that returns the comic's current rank.  I'm curious if anyone will make use of it, as it would require some scripting to properly take the number and place it (either using image generation or dhtml) on top of a custom banner.  At any rate, its there, for anyone to make use of.

    here is an example: http://topwebcomics.com/rankimages/plaintext.aspx?comicid=926

Ok all, keep the character submissions coming, we got through all of the ones sent to us up to yesterday afternoon, I think we have about 6 left to upload.  We haven't been replying to most of you, things are hectic, I was recovering from my wisdom tooth extraction (thanks everyone for the well wishes!), and thanks for all of the complimentary e-mails in the past few days, its really helping to keep us motivated to keep going and really put some effort in TWC.

I want to reiterate that the goal of TWC is to help promote webcomics.  It has been a simple weblist for a long time, that does somewhat help with that goal, but ultimately I think we're going to have to really push the limits of imagination in order to make TWC the place where webcomics come to help grow their fan community.  We're doing our best, and we appreciate all the effort everyone puts into getting their fans to vote and whatnot.
