They sent one of their big time pitchers to the white sox I think. Freddy Garcia if I remember correctly.

Ah right.   Theyre definetly throwing in the towel this year.  22 games down in the toughest division in baseball is too much.  Their season was over before they made that trade.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

    My picks....

AFC East: Pats. They have won two superbowls, and did it without having a RB of even half the caliber Cory Dillon is. I Know Dillon was a prima donna in Cincy, but he will get all the carries he wants in NE. The one thing that is gonna hurt the Pats is the loss of Washington on the D-Line. When you have that type of a player, you can't replce his value in stopping the run, esp when you play a 3-4 system. Still, their secondary, if it's possible, got even better with some verteran depth added over the offseason. All in all, this teams looks stronger than they were last year, and they reeled of like 14-15 strau\ight last season.

AFC North:Baltimore. By ruight, and by default. The Steelers still can stop anybody's run game, but who runs on the steelers when you can toss up 400 yard passing games like their free? Bengals will fail to reach the playoffs because palmer is gonna cost them a couple games,(Not that I disagree with the move, Kitna has had one good year his whole carreer), and the browns...well, they don't count uless their defense learns the NFL doesn't go by touch football rules.

AFC South:Colts. Pissed off over last season, and this year officials are being told to call contact close after the way the pasts magled their wussy recievers in the championship game. The defens had to get better though. Texans will push the Titans for second place in this division.

AFC West: Denver. KC can score, but they can't stop anybody. And Donte Hall won at least three games for them last year that he won;t win this year. Chargers...nuff said. Raiders have the Norv factor, which may secure them first pick in the draft next year. No, I am not exagerating, he does suck that badly. As far as losing Portis, the Broncos draft RB's like Britney spears changed breast size. And Baily will be a big impact on D.

Wild card....Lets say KC and Texans. Yeah, you heard me dammit. Have some guts with your picks.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

Some guts with the Texans there.   I cant argue with it too much, but youre giving no love to the Jaguars.  They looked so good last year for a losing team.  Im saying it will be wise to not look past them this year.

Kansas City I have a disappointment this year.  Theyll finish 2nd in their division by default as there really are only 2 teams in that division....really

Perhaps youre right about the Titans though....the more I think about it, the more they could fit into the disappointment column.  Maybe Ill have Jacksonville in the playoffs rather than them...well I dunno.  For now Ill stick with my original picks.

I think the Patriots will be good, but something Ive learned about teams here in New England is--dont get too high on them.  Theyll always let you down.  The only way they win is if theyre the underdog.  We love surprising people, but then people start to think we're that good and then we just completely fall apart (Bruins....Red Sox...Patriots after their last championship season  )Must be something in our water supply.

Have some guts with my picks?

Umm...well Id really like to have Parcells' guts.  Itd be awfully hard for him to coach without them.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

I think that anyone who is missing their guts would have a hard time just living.

Baltimore to win the division. Nah, its the Bengals year.

Nope to the Pats. It time for those fish to the south to shine. Though they will probably back into the division championship and playoffs.

The Colts will win again and bow out of the payoffs again.

As for the AFC West......well lets look at it this way I don't like the Raiders, I don't like the Broncos and I have not like the Chargers since Dan Fouts and the older Winslow. So I guess the Chiefs are winners by default. Though I don't care for them much either. This is all probably because I grew up watching the seahawks and since they left I really don't care if anyone wins the ACF West.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

So whos gonna win the AFC if the Colts bow out, the AFC west sucks, the Dolphins wimp out, and the Bengals make it?  The Wild Card winners?

The West is a 2 team race.  I dont know how good either of those teams will be though.  Maybe Im underestimating Vermiel though...

I dont like Baltimore that much though.  Defense is always key, but their offense just looked so amateurish.

Yeah probably one of the wild card entries to the superbowl. Though since they are wild cards I don't know who they are.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

Patriots or Titans?  Those would be my picks, and you have neither winning the division

(Though Im really thinking of picking the Jags as a wildcard here)

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

Dolphins? Dolphins brought in a bench warmer to take Feidler's job, and he so far doesn;t look capable. They also added David Boston...because he did SO mouch for SD last year Their defense is getting old, Ricky Williams is in trouble over the league substance abuse policy, Agunnleye is a hold out, and they got a couple other players in trouble for DUI or domestic vioence charges. On top of it all is Wanstadt, who is about as capable as Norv Turner of leading a team.

Bengals won't win the division simply because Palmer is starting. You don't win with young first time starting QB's. At least not consistently

Where the hell are my smilies?

What the hell is this roll dice thing?

When the hell are they gonna make a thrid Bill and Ted movie?

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

Another Bill and Ted movie. Okay sounds good to me.

Yeah but Kitna will come in after a few games and put the Bengals team on the road to the SB.

I suspose the Jags could be a wildcard team.

I just figure that with all the problems affecting the Dolphins they will win this year. In the past they were susposed to be loaded and now they have to actually play so why not this year.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

Im a pessimist.  Im allowed to make stupid picks

And the smilies suck on this forum...two tongue smilies...what the hell were they thinking?   At least there are 2 mad smilies so I can voice my displeasure correctly on the smilie issue

I dunno...I think the Dolphins are ALWAYS the team to beat in the East.  There are the Pats that never look good when theyre favored, the Bills who are in all kinds of team turmoil, overrated players and underachievers, and then the Jets who are still feeling the sting from getting rid of all their players.  But at least theyll be the best team in New York....not including the Mets, Knicks, Islanders, or Yankees

OK, lets just for a minute....JUST FOR A MINUTE pretend I actually know what the hell Im talking about.  That might work, yes.

I thought you were talking about when they traded Randy Johnson to the Diamondbacks a few years ago....

Nah, I thought that was a big mistake also but they actually got better for a few years after that trade.

    RE: BS's football ramblings.

With Ricky Williams retiring, that will be it for the Dolphins.  Their run game is done and just like that, theyre not going to make the playoffs this year.

Here are my revised AFC playoff picks:

    • AFC East-Patriots
    • AFC North-Bengals
    • AFC South-Indianapolis
    • AFC West-Broncos
    • AFC Wild Cards-Jaguars, Chiefs
