While I'd admit first off that Squall may not be the smoothest operator, it seems rather obvious that he isn't a "cold heartless bastard" and is merely an uncomfortable spaz when it comes to expressing his feelings...

In any case, yes, Time was compressed, yes, it was his fault, and yes, he did it out of selfish reasoning, (Rinoa VS end of world....) but it did work out in the end.

 

1) "but it did work out in the end" That is the stupidest argument ever. Hitler murdered thousands of people in his Holocaust. Is that okay "because it worked out in the end"?

2) First comment: yeah, he can tell others that he feels, but again, that doesn't count if he's cold and heartless towards the girl.

3) What else was he supposed to say? When someone's dying, you don't just go, "Well, that sucks." no matter how heartless you are.

4) He didn't put up much of a fight.

1) I would hardly compare Squall letting a being with the destructive power to undo the universe be contained to Hitler massacreing millions.

There is just no way of winning this.

You're point is that Squall was a heartless bastard because he wasn't romantic enough while repeatedly risking his life to save Rinoa!

 

My point is that Squall was a horrible character.

He couldn't do anything even remotely romantic or even nice for the girl he was supposed to be in love with, except for a couple of times when he

tried to destroy the world just because his friends pressured him into liking her.

Worse than seven. Six was the last good Final Fantasy until they redeemed themselves with Ten, but they through that away with X-2.
