Jwm cant possbly lose the playoffs standings, but that doesnt mean he has nothing to play for. A chance to go the perfect 11-0 in the post season will go down in record books forever!

Wow. I actually did it. However if you had asked me to pick all of the playoff games and outcomes at the start of the playoffs I am pretty sure I would not have had the same results. I guess after a season of trying for perfection once again I have peaked at the right time so to speak. Big Smile [:D]

Now I must pick a winner for the Superbowl. Ugh! I am not sure I can do this. Well, I will think on this issue and try to make up my mind. I am leaning toward the Seahawks because they have never been there before, but I also want the Steelers to win as a 5th SB puts them back on top for most wins with Dallas and SF.

Still struggling with the pick for the SB winner. It seems that no matter which team I pick I will be betraying a part of me that has been there since childhood. In the end I will probably just flip a coin.

    Re: BS's football ramblings.

Ive already analyzed this game to death among friends in college and my other fantasy league.

Ive come to a conclusion, however unsatisfactory it is.

I believe looking strictly at the matchups you'll find that Seattle is overall a better team, but there are certain weaknesses that can be exploited with a certain amount of skill. Meanwhile Pittsburgh has many holes in their team but they can easily be over come when played in the right way.

I think to myself...now why of all the Pittsburgh teams is it the Steelers that have made the championship? The ONE Pittsburgh team I dont have in my favorite top 3 teams in certain sports. Oh well...thats besides the point.

I think both teams will try to run and run a lot and they wont stop despite both teams failing at running the ball. The bottom line is that neither of these run defenses are weak enough to exploit. So the game will come down to quarterbacks and turnovers, maybe special teams, but I havent really considered that wild card yet.

If Pittsburgh tries short passes, I suspect they will get stuffed or worse, burned. So that leaves Pittsburgh in a position where deep passes will be key, and Seattle's deep pass defense is very weak away from Trufant. Big Ben will have to look for Ward, Wilson and Randle El down the field for good production.

Seattle will continually run the ball with Alexander and he'll get some good yards, but no big runs , no game breakers. PIT's pass defense is superb with Polamalu down the line and the great LBs crowding the line giving Hasselbeck pressure. This may disorient him a bit, and theyll take some bad losses on sacks, I will be guessing.

In the end, I would pick Seattle to win because theyre the better team, but they are also brand new to the Superbowl and we have to consider wild cards. Usually franchises seeing their first superbowl flop their first go around. And you also have to consider the crowd playing in favor of Pittsburgh.

I think it will be a well fought game that Pittsburgh will win 21-17

    Re: BS's football ramblings.

The more I read about the upcomming game the more I feel that the following will unfold. Seattle is billed as a new commer to the SB and they are loaded with talent ready to tear up the Steelers. But the Steelers are like a pack of crafty wolves that will toy with Seattle before pouncing on them and shreading them to little pieces. It is funny how even though the Steelers have less SB experienced players than the Seahawks and probably a younger over all team that they are billed as having experience just because of the Steelers teams from the 70's. The franchise may have a history in the SB but none of the players do.

I still don't know who I am going to pick. Indifferent [:|]

    Re: BS's football ramblings.

Yes thats accurate. Holmgren went with the Packers about 10 years ago now.

The Pittsburgh coach has been there too, though, and just about as long ago too. So it sort of balances out there

    Seattle vs. Pittsburgh

First of all, I'm sick to death of the whole Jerome Bettis playing at home thing.  Of course, since the only other thing in the news is the Donovan McNabb vs. Terrell Owens, Part 3,684, there's not much else for the talking heads to run their mouths about.

Even though they were the NFC #1 seed, they might have made the playoffs if they had to play in an AFC division.  They haven't played any really tough competition all year, while the Steelers are in one of the toughest divisions in football.

Oh ouch, some tough words from HLD against the Hawks.

You know the more I think about it, the more I think Seattle will win the game. Whenever you have a general concensus among the media and the fans on who will win (Pittsburgh seems to be beyond popular), its usually the other guys who win, and to be honest, Seattle is the better team.

But, Ill stick with my pick. Ill still say Pittsburgh wins because Im a pessimist

    Re: BS's football ramblings.

Well lets see...... Jurevicius and Winstrom come to mind as current Seahawks that have played in a SB. There are probably others but I can't name them right now.

Well I am now going to make my pick..................................

    I am picking the.................................................

Seattle Seahawks to win it all.

There I did it and now am going to watch in agony.

I want Seattle to win because I like the name better than Pittsburgh.
