Re: This thread is for JWM

Okay so my kids pull a Mad Mal on me last night. The come up to me a proclaim to know how Pokemon were created. You see there was this battle between Ants and Monkeys and when they were done all of the animals in the forest turned to Pokemon. There were no humans in the forest at the time just the animals. Then later humnas started to pop up out of the ground because the Pokemon were so fun and needed some one to play with.

Hmmm, who knew that this evolving from monkeys thing had such a large application to our world. Huh? [:^)]

I think that's a sound theory how Pokémon came about. You really shouldn't let them watch Pokémon so much, make them watch more healthier shows like Transformers. Pokémon teaches how pitting animals against each other in violent battles for entertainment of people is fun, Transformers is as violent but at least has that whole good versus evil thing going on.

One thing I've always wondered about Pokémon: Pokémon trainers make their Pokémon (which are quite obviously sentient creatures) live inside little balls and they're trained and encouraged to fight each other for their owners amusement... what I want to know is - where the heck is "People for the Ethical Treatment of Pokémon"?!?

'Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.' - Gregory Benford.

Perhaps slavery is legal where they live. Pokemon are not human therefore they have no human rights?

But there are animal rights. These creatures are rarely fed, those balls are never cleaned out (a Pikachu can leave a lot of mess behind) and this blood sport is as bad a badger baiting.

Nope and if it exists don't tell me about it. *shudder*

I just hope my kids never find out about such stuff.

Sadly, Jwmblade, they probably will. The best you can do as a parent is prepare them for it.

Or you could right a strong letter to the makers of Pokemon demanding that they stop making it.
