Picked a good day to return to the forum. Happy Birthday, Jwm! (and also to Henry VII - the toughest of the Tudors) Cool

Really? Because I think either of his Granddaughters would have given him a run for his money in the toughness stakes.

Re: This thread is for JWM

They were all a pretty hard bunch (young Ed can be excused because he didn't have much of a chance to show his skills), and I agree that there's not much between them in the toughness stakes. Henry VII first had to win the job and then ensure that the dynasty survived through a series of carefully arranged marriages between the Yorks and the Lancasters, thus allowing his descendants to walk into the job and set the heads a'rolling. Cool

Yeah I guess, he literally had to fight for his crown. Did Jwm have to fight his one?

Happy Birthday Jwm! Yeesh, 13 hours? I once rode all the way from Florida to California but I was really young so barely remember it... then there was the bus ride from California to Texas... Three days and three nights... OKay maybe 13 hours isn't so bad after all.

How is California by the way? I kinda miss it... :(

Re: This thread is for JWM

3 days and 3 nights on a bus sounds like torture to me. So yeah 13 hours is not very bad.

Well California is doing fine the weather is well as it always is. Not as hot as Texas I would imagine, well at least not here in Northern California. You know it has been a bit quieter here since you left. I guess all those emergency rescue squad people found other work. Stick out tongue

Re: This thread is for JWM

Just wanted to let everyone know. I got the letter from the California State Board of Professional Engineers yestrerday, notifying me that I have passed the exam for my Professional Liscense. I am now a Professional Electrical Engineer.

    Wahooooooooo!

Last April I sat for the 8 hour exam. After the test I thought I might have a very small chance of passing. I guess it was enough. Cool

No more endless week ends of studying for the exam or worring about finding another liscenced engineer at work to stamp and sign the plans I produce. I am very happy.

    Congrats, jwm!

An 8 hour exam?? Must have been hell (particularly if no toilet breaks were permitted). Cool

Re: This thread is for JWM

You could get up and go to the toilet any time you wanted, but they did not stop the clock for you.

The actual test time was 8 hours. I was at the building for 12 hours. You had to factor in waiting in line to get in the building, checking in, waiting for the other 1000 people to check in, listening to the test proctor read the instructions (very slowly), lunch time, waiting to get back into the building after lunch, checking in again, waiting for everyone else to check in, listening to the test proctor read the instructions again (very slowly). The freaking thing took forever. But I don't have to do that again.Big Smile

I think that proctors the world over either have to be:

    (a) unable to read faster than a dozy sloth

    or

    (b) be naturally sadistic and have a psychopathic hatred of exam-sitters. Cool
