    Demon: The Fallen

My group and I where planning on starting up a game of White Wolf's Demon: The Fallen, now since only the Story Teller and his girlfriend have any experince with it we where planning on spending one session on just characters and getting to know the game. I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with Demon, I would like a little fore knowledge to help speed up the creation process for myself. I checked out the White Wolf site and a few fan sites but only found some very base information or incompleat (you know "This Section is Under Construction, More Information Soon!" sort of stuff) on the type of demon I am interested in playing.

I was thinking about playing a Devourer who has possessed a Teddy Bear, he is very upset with the corruption of nature and all the pollution and all that. He believes that the only way to fix this is to educate the comming generations, and punish the past generations who have caused the degredation of the earth since the days of Eden.

Now what I would like information on, so I don't spend hours reading all this in the single base book we will most likily be useing, is about lores, paths, powers, all that sort of stuff. Anything that might be of interest I would love to learn about. Any and all help is apperciated. Thank you.

    -Twitch

(EDIT: Change of Plans I am going to play a Slayer not a Devourer.)

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

    Alas, Twitch ol' pal. Alas.

You know I'd love to be of service but Ignorance is once again my shield from the comings and goings of the world:

    I've never played Demon.

But maybe Mike -that guy reads rule books for breakfast. Silly rabbit. Nothing beats meatballs for breakfast- knows a wee bit about the game. At the very least he could write a poetic and vague paragraph pertaining that seems to be useful but in the end is just flavor text.  n__n

    Aint that right, Mike?

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

So, its kind of a ravener slayer at that? Its a pretty nice concept, but unlike most games, i think Demon gives itself more to a play of metaphysics and conceptual struggles, so a lot of the meaning of the character has to be down in the midst of the context in which you are playing.. What are the other characters?

Slayers have quite a problem reaping faith, for in the end, these are the assassins of God. They are the destroyers, and the ashes which crumble beneath their host are meant to be the grounds for new life to be brought into the celestial grounds, you should consider casting your character as either a peaceful retriever of lifes or a freakin apocalyptic creature who has comed to take the bussisness into the barn.

Lore of Death rocks the boat, and gives way to any of the many forms your character can take, And mental and manipulative skills can prove quite useful.

Lore of the spirit can be cool, if youre playing with a high dead people talking to you and ivestigative work. And its quite cool once you get a really long game going, in which case Lore of The realms becomes pretty useful too. If youre gonna be playing only a short game, id go with Lore of Death hyped to the max and concentrate on playing the role, more than growing the powers of your little cherub of death.

Other than that, theres a whole myriad of things you can take or do, but that depends a lot on what youre asking for... And now, im actually pretty much decided to run a Demon game in the next weeks. If only, just so my players try it out.

So.. how did youre game went? and what did you end up playing?

    Cheers,

    Mike

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

Well i should have clerified, I am no longer useing that concept because i learned that if i played the whole teddy bear destroyer thing I would have to play an earthbound and they CAN'T move on their own and blah blah blah, In short I would have to end up spending all my points on a couple of lores just so that I could move for a scene.

I changed my concept to a Manic Depressive Slayer who wants to be loved and accepted by the mortals, he doesn't want to be an angel of death but unfortunanly for him he has five ranks in background legacy which makes it so he remembers all of his life as an angel and he is tormented by that fact because he knows his purpose is to bring death and to deny his purpose is to deny himself. So he's ganna be an Alcoholic angel always trying to numb the pain and wash away his memories.

The person he has possessed was manic depressive, thus why the Angel is now that he is the guy. He is about 25-27 and a child of the 80's so he is really into 80's rock, he wears a Slayer shirt. The Angel's favorite song... Don't Fear the Reaper.

We actually didn't start the game yesterday, that was a pregame in which we all made characters. Another character is running with the who Devourer lets destroy everything concept, another character is a Devil who wants the demons to join forces and rule over these stupid mortals (Think Magneto). My roommate was out of town at the time so still needs to think of a concept.

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

Hi, I was just kinda passing, and happened to notice the Demon thread. Have you played any storyteller or white-wolf games before? It's just that your group of demons seems kinda mismatched... You might spend most sessions fighting each other rather than grouping together I think one of the expansions detailed the earthbounds' powers which MAY include animation of possessed atrefacts (I mean, how cool would it be to be chased by a possessed statue?). The only problem is, is the Earthbound are ludicrously powerful to begin with, and so don't generally have a need to move around.

    Thanks for listening!

PS White Wolf ended their world of darkness series recently (quite apocalyptically...) and are soon gonna release a new set.

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

Yes I know all about that sort of stuff, but like I said to possess that statue I would need to spend almost all of my freebies as well as lore points on just a few lores to get him THAT powerful.

As for the mismatched group well our group kinda likes doing that sort of thing, instead of the standard lets band togeather and work for a common goal. We decided to play a game where we are all pretty much out to get one another compeating and backstabbing and fighting.

I don't know if I mentioned it before but I'm chaotic, and thus have changed my character concept agian. I will stick with this one thoe I really like it; It is a Devil Reconciler who believes that their punishment was just and that the rebellion was a mistake. He is angry at the fact that demons are escaping their prison had has taken it upon himself to head out into the work and either destroy or send back the other demons. So I am going to be playing a demon hunting demon. I just need to get his Torment down by one dot so he can use a blessed sword, he would really screw up high torment demons with that!

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

Here is my Demon's background since he came to earth, whuddyah think?

    Hunter
The Wrath of a Fallen Angel

Father William Book looked at his watch; it was nearly midnight, past time for him to head home and get some sleep. Putting away his paper work and turning of the lights he walked to the great double doors of the Church of Spiritual Light stopping only momentarily to cross his self and say a silent prayer for the brave men and woman out fighting the evils of the world. His friend Lucas Wright was one such person; he had not seen Lucas in over a week, but with Lucas such a thing was not uncommon. Lucas was a fellow man of the cloth, he had came to the church as a young man; his parents had been brutally murdered before his eyes by creatures of the night. Vampires had torn his parents apart for the sheer glee of it and Lucas watched the entire thing in horror unable to move as the cursed creatures toyed with his loved ones. Normally Lucas would have been sent to a home where he would receive psychological examination for the wild stories he told of monsters with glowing eyes that drank the blood of mortals; and had it not been for Father Book’s pervious experience with these damned creatures of the night Lucas would have been. No, Book knew people, people who could handle this sort of thing. They worked with the church yet where not part of it, they where Hunters. These Hunters had saved Book’s life before and helped Lucas deal with his trauma; they found that Lucas had a gift inside him, what they called the Calling. They taught Lucas and helped him expand his abilities until he was a fearsome Hunter in his own right. Father Book sighed, he prayed for Lucas’s safety every night; he was like a son to him.

Stepping out of the church he shivered, it was unusually cold for this time of year; the streets where slick with water and the air was thick with the smell of fresh rain. Locking the doors he turned on his heel and flinched, the cold air always made his old knee injury act up; he had gotten it in college playing football. Combing his hair through his thick brown hair he looked up at the cloud filled sky, when he lowered his gaze he started and clutched at his chest. A tall dark figure stood in the shadows just beyond the light; at the sight of his dismay the figure rushed forward into the light a look of concern on his bloodied face. Book frowned at the man waving him off as he slowed his breathing, with mock anger he locked his gaze with the man; “Look at you, dressed in black leather, covered in blood, skulking in the shadows sneaking up on old men in the night.” He glowered at the man waving a finger at him. “You could have given me a heart attack you damn hooligan!” The frown quickly split into a grin as he quickly stepped down the stairs and embraced the man. “By God Lucas where have you been, are you hurt, is this your blood, are you in danger?” Pulling back from the stoic Hunter he frowned. “You have something on your mind; where’s my manners come inside.” Book began digging in his pockets looking for where he put his keys when Lucas’s gloved hand stopped him, “No, let’s go somewhere else.” Book frowned at Lucas then shrugged. His frown slipping back into a grin of its own accord; too relieved to see that his friend was ok Book couldn’t help himself. “Alright, let’s go to my apartment.”

The two of them walked the few blocks to Book’s apartment in silence, Book wanted to ask many questions but one look at Lucas showed him that he was deep in thought and would be better left to clear his thoughts and prepare what he was going to say. Up the black wrought iron staircase to the third story the two of them stopped in front of apartment #206; it was a small humble apartment furnished neatly with various literature cluttering the room. Book flipped on the lights and quickly cleared the sofa of stacks of books and paper as Lucas went into the bath room to clean the blood off his face, neck, and chest. Brewing up a pot of Chai tea father Book waited patiently for Lucas; two sugars with light cream that was how both of them liked their tea. Twelve minutes later Lucas emerged a much cleaner man; handing him a cup of tea book sat down in his favorite chair, it was a soft recliner that had a familiar squeak to it. Lucas hung up his coat and placed his gun, stakes, cross, and Bible on the table; Book as always mused over the odd mix of equipment. Lucas sat down across from Book and cleared his throat.

“What I am about to tell you will shock you, it will anger you, and I am sure it will hurt you.” Lucas started. Seeing that his was a serious matter Book placed his tea down and sat forward. “I come to you with hopes that you will be able to help me, that you will trust me. I know not of if you being a man of God will help you cope.” Lucas took a sip of his tea and put it back down. “Lucas Wright, the man you see before you, is no more. The spirit has fled yet the body remains, I, he was killed in a fight against three vampires.” Book glared at him; “This is a very bad joke Lucas.” Lucas sighed, “I wish it was a joke, being inside his body I can see he was a good and just man. A Hunter of the damned, much like I am, or will be.” Book’s eyes widened; “You’re telling the truth! What manner of demon are you to possess his body?” Lucas’s eyes fell, a single tear rolled down his cheek. “Despite how I try, I will never be rid of that title. It is true I am a demon, a devil to be exact; I am a fallen angel free of the abyss and here on earth once again.” Book grimaced; “What game do you play deceiver, why would you expose what you are; why didn’t you just play off of being Lucas?” Book frowns. “I admit I found it odd that you didn’t want to enter the church, yet I so wanted to believe that you where Lucas. I would have believed you.” Lucas sat tall and proud, defiant of the demeaning titles he was granted; “It is true I am a demon, I am a Devil so titled by Michael the mourning of the fall. Yet seeing the atrocities of the War of Wrath and spending millions of years in the pit I have come to see the truth, the rebellion although done out of love for your kind; it was still a terrible sin that shouldn’t have happened. We rebelled for a vision of great darkness that would spell doom for Adam, Eve, and the world we created. We loved Adam and Eve as much as we loved God, he commanded it, it wasn’t necessary yet he still demanded it. He also decreed that we never show ourselves to you, that you live alone. We broke this out of love, only now I see the vision of darkness was a vision of what would happen should we show ourselves to humans, it spelled doom for the world. Paradise lost we fought our own kin until we where banished to Hell, a prison crafted just for us. Every one of my order, the first house of angels, the Namaru then and forever known as the Devils marched proudly, defiantly into the pit of our own accord. I marched in proudly, but there was no defiance in my step; I marched for I accepted my punishment, I knew it was just and right that we suffer.” Book’s frown would have deepened if it was possible. “You want me to believe that demons, the picture of evil, have all decided they where wrong and are now seeking redemption?” Lucas shook his head and sipped his tea; “No, no, it is true there are others who wish to get back in God’s graces. They endured their punishment as I did, sadly however there are more who have embraced the darkness. Some of whom had already done so before they entered the abyss. They are truly demons and prey on mortals; I would never have left the abyss content to endure my punishment where it not for them. I have sworn to send them howling back into the pit, failing that they stay there, I will send them into oblivion.” Book took his mug and sipped it slowly before setting it back down. “Forgive me if I am skeptical, yet here I am speaking to a man that claims to be a fallen angel telling me that he has repented his ways and seeks to bring justice to the evil demons that have escaped hell. You are asking me to take the word of a self proclaimed devil?” “I realize how far fetched it sounds, but I hoped you, a man of god, one who knows for a fact that there are supernatural powers out in the world, would come to accept the possibility. Can a demon be saved, can this world be redeemed? Hunters work every night for the redemption of the world. Seeking to destroy the evil in this world so that God will embrace it once more; all I ask of you is support, faith, help me save my soul, help me save the world.” Book nodded; “No matter how old I get, not matter how much I think I have seen it all, something new always comes out and bites me in the ass. God will forgive even one such as you with time.” Lucas eagerly bent forward, hope gleaming in his eyes. “How, how can it be done; tell me I’ll do anything to know the love of God once again.” Book chuckled to himself and a smile warmed his face. “I don’t know how why, and I don’t believe it to be a trick, but I believe you, I trust you Luc-.” Book frowned; “It doesn’t feel right calling you Lucas, what is your name?” “My name is Eno, I was known as The Sword of Justice.” Eno laughed; “Funny, I am one of the few who have kept true to their title.” Book bent forward looking Eno in the eyes; “You have been around since creation, you must know a lot, I would like to hear as much as you can tell me. But first I suppose we should work a little on your redemption, how about a confession?” Eno sat back, “It will be easy enough to do both at once; but it will take a while.” “I have no where to go.” Book replied. “Very well, let’s begin.” Eno said sipping his tea. “Forgive me father, for I have sinned. This is my first confession.”

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

    So.

Hows the ¨Beeing demony and fallen from the Primus Mobile and stuff¨ been working on you chap? I really like demon. Which reads weird yes, but i really do. Take that young christian baptists! HA!

Recently Ive been reading the new Wod Books, and good lord they are quite cool. And orpheus. And Transhuman space. Theres a lot of games and stories id love to get on with the regular rat pack of monkeys, but alas.. I await the end of the current Whitewolf based long standing run of vampire. (A RAT pack.. of monkeys! *ph43r teh_tuff*)

Besides, we still have a billion games in the middlle of getting finished, or just played again.. Not everygame has an ending and a lot of them are all about HOW it plays out each session..  Im gonna be putting up some play by forum thing in here, but like that bendery guy from Wedding singer horribly sang: Give me tiiime!

I go back to the world of man now.

And i await reading about your own exploits on the demon game Twitch, you pirate gnomeling, you! (Anyone else who has played demon, wants to play demon, once saw a demon or is kind of a pirate or a gnomething is welcome too. Except Steve. You are NOT a pirate, Steve.. )

    Regards,

    Mike (Feeling a bit strange)

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

    HA!

Well there has been some interesting conflict between my character and another player's, it seems his character and I both served in the Crimson Leigon and his character has always been a little bit jealous than me because no matter what he did I always seemed a little bit better than him. I have more Eminence, more Legacy, blah blah blah. Our first Conflict had us both taking apocalyptic form, he took full Torment form where as my character will not use any torment powers even to save his own life. Well I think he will at the end of the game perhaps in some climatic battle to make things seem cooler, but anyways. So he is one of those fire devils where as I am a Bel so even as his Tormant power makes him in to a huge towering demon my Bel visage makes me still seem to tower over him no matter how tall he gets. It didn't end pretty and neither of us escaped the conflict without some agravated damage.

I met another character after being hospitalized by a Lasambra that cought me by suprise, I ended up smashing the other character in the jaw with a bed pan.

    RE: Demon: The Fallen

Was the Lasombra conniving and endearingly evil?

I like it when Lasombras are conniving and endearingly evil.

I like it more when you get to break them too.

    And Good Lord...

Bedpans of pain... Eww to the max!

    Regards,

Oh he was conniving and there is a good chance he was evil to boot!
But allas I did not break him, two other demons who happened to be near by did.
