Well, you do have some options.

    1) If you have WinZip installed on your computer, you could download them from WotC's site. Still, I found faint hints here and there (not definite) about there being a (light, from what I hear) price tag.

    2) You can order the core rulebooks from your favorite online market (ie: ebay, amazon.com, etc). Cheaper that way.

That's about all I can think of from the top of my head.

Oh I have the core 3.5ED PHB. I just have not actually read the important parts. I think I might need to get the DMG but I am holding off as I kind of want to keep somethings unknown. It makes me a better player if I don't question the DM because I know what they are talking about.

I got the DMG, PHB and Monster Book but I'm trying to get one for siege weapons.

As far as I know there really isn't any books concerning seige weapons; I don't think the "Arms and Equipment Guide" really covers that. There is still hope however, AEG produces an excellent line of third party books one of which titled "War" has all the information you seek and more.

Come on you really just want a siege weapon don't you?

I built a 1/4 scale (the base was about the size of a queen sized bed, and the arm was about 9 feet long.) catapult in woodshop a few years back, it could fire a watermelon the length of almost two football fields! :D Maybe I should make a larger one...

@Jwm, Actually it's an ocean and most of an entire continent.

@Twitch, Gnomes building siege engines? Government weapon's programs would kill to have that.

@Jwm, While you're living an ocean and most of an entire continent away, you live in the same state as a Gnome who's planning to build a siege engine.

Yes but with the gnomish siege weapon here it is the states outside of Californiathat have to worry. That and well maybe Southern California, but they deserve it.

    Try this book: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/860900000

It has information on tools specific to the battlefield, including siege engines, weapons, magic items, steeds, and other exotic mounts.
