You're right on that note... but I got an explination. Her name is Amayasha.
The story of Amaya is a sad one. Born neutral rather than evil, she was
abandoned by her parents and shunned by the other Dark Dragons. Her own
kind forsaking her, she found shelter among the twilight dragons. She
was but a child by dragon standards when the Great War hit. She hid
among the young of the Twilights and watched in horror as Light and
Twilight fought the Dark. She saw her father and mother slaughter many
a dragon she had called friend.
When the Dark God, Rammah, died, he released a shockwave of dark
energy. This caused the first Dark Six to eventually become undead, as
well as Shelondra, the eldest of the 2nd generation. Daedalus, Rika and
Helos were put into a stasis until about 200 years ago when their
parents attacked Mished.
Amaya was cursed as well. She found to her horror that she obsorbed the
souls of those around her, drawing them to her heart like a blackhole.
Crying out for help, she got it from the most unlikely of sources...
her mother. Not only were the Dark 6 destined to become undead, they
had also aquired god-like powers.
Morana forced her daughter into human form, far earlier than she would
have aquired normally (dragons in Liev learn innately how to assume a
humanoid form when they are young adults... Amaya was only 13.. a baby
by dragon standards). At first Amaya was happy
to have stopped absorbing souls, though she was ashamed for having
killed most of the Twilights before Morana stepped in. Then the truth
was told to Amaya.
She would still have to absorb souls, but only those of mortals who
naturally passed on or souls whose time had come. Otherwise, she would
gradually turn back into a dragon and thus, go back to being a
"blackhole" of death. Least, as a human, she could have some control
over her powers. Morana made sure that Amaya retained her immortality
(dragons are immortal but killable in my world) in human form.
Morana did this to Amaya as punishment for not being like the rest of
her kind. Amaya knows that death is not an option for that would revert
her to her dragon form and her soul, as well as any within an
ever-growing radius, would be doomed.
In a way, Amaya has the instinct to know when a soul must pass on, but
she also knows there is no passing on when she absorbs a soul.
She also chooses to absorb souls, but doesn't excercise this power
except in three cases, the deaths of Helos, Rikka and Veldrin (servant
of Rashanté)
EPSC: She's crazy, lazy and oh-so-lovable!
