Right, if he were made of porcelain, hed be a porcelain golem :P

Sounds like hes been put into one of those rock-polisher machines :D

What direction do you want their imbued abilities to be? Super defenses/offenses?

I'm thinking that the Marionette will be an offensive creature whereas the Living Doll is defensive.

Yes, that does sound the most reasonable idea.

The golums I always hated to face were those who emitted cloud kill, not sure if thats the direction you want to go for an offensive ability, but it is something thats been done before for golems

All righty, the group loved the living doll thing. Now I need to plan the next session. All I have thought up is a lot of incorpreal undead attack town they are in, because the ghost dragon god was the father to the yellow dragons they killed.

Also, how does a dragon cursed to be in human form because she has the power to absorb souls and while in human form, she can't do it unless somone dies and "it's their time"

How does the Dragon determine when "it's their time"? Seems rather vague. Does it mean of natural causes or does it mean any death not caused by that Dragon?

Re: The Return of the World within EPSC's Mind (D&D Campaign Discussion/Suggestions Centre)

You're right on that note... but I got an explination. Her name is Amayasha.

The story of Amaya is a sad one. Born neutral rather than evil, she was abandoned by her parents and shunned by the other Dark Dragons. Her own kind forsaking her, she found shelter among the twilight dragons. She was but a child by dragon standards when the Great War hit. She hid among the young of the Twilights and watched in horror as Light and Twilight fought the Dark. She saw her father and mother slaughter many a dragon she had called friend.

When the Dark God, Rammah, died, he released a shockwave of dark energy. This caused the first Dark Six to eventually become undead, as well as Shelondra, the eldest of the 2nd generation. Daedalus, Rika and Helos were put into a stasis until about 200 years ago when their parents attacked Mished.

Amaya was cursed as well. She found to her horror that she obsorbed the souls of those around her, drawing them to her heart like a blackhole. Crying out for help, she got it from the most unlikely of sources... her mother. Not only were the Dark 6 destined to become undead, they had also aquired god-like powers. Morana forced her daughter into human form, far earlier than she would have aquired normally (dragons in Liev learn innately how to assume a humanoid form when they are young adults... Amaya was only 13.. a baby by dragon standards). At first Amaya was happy to have stopped absorbing souls, though she was ashamed for having killed most of the Twilights before Morana stepped in. Then the truth was told to Amaya.

She would still have to absorb souls, but only those of mortals who naturally passed on or souls whose time had come. Otherwise, she would gradually turn back into a dragon and thus, go back to being a "blackhole" of death. Least, as a human, she could have some control over her powers. Morana made sure that Amaya retained her immortality (dragons are immortal but killable in my world) in human form. Morana did this to Amaya as punishment for not being like the rest of her kind. Amaya knows that death is not an option for that would revert her to her dragon form and her soul, as well as any within an ever-growing radius, would be doomed.

In a way, Amaya has the instinct to know when a soul must pass on, but she also knows there is no passing on when she absorbs a soul.  She also chooses to absorb souls, but doesn't excercise this power except in three cases, the deaths of Helos, Rikka and Veldrin (servant of Rashanté)

Ah right so she knows instinctly knows when it is someone's time to croak, so she will be there ready to feed on the soul...couldn't she like absorb the souls of ants and squirrels as well?

Re: The Return of the World within EPSC's Mind (D&D Campaign Discussion/Suggestions Centre)

I think it's assumed she can, but doesn't on a regular basis (Besides, I purposefully make it vauge on whether or not there ever was an afterlife to begin with). You see, Amaya's punishment is derived from having to absorb the souls of sentient beings. Only those kind of souls can keep her in human form. Any other soul that is absorbed is just part of her curse.

I'm also trying to decide if I want to have her be cured or should she sacrifce herself in some manner that won't end with the world's life being extinguished by her curse.

Next time on "Fade to Life"
Our heroes must defeat vampire after vampire to get to the Dark Acolyte, Unholy Monk: Lillith Ardat (Warrior of Aina)

Also starring: Zoe (4year-old Katane commoner), Dolores (Zoe's 'Momma')

The plan is simple... Lotsa vampires = lotsa combat = my husband won't whine. Plus, it's exciting!

PS: I own a copy of Heroes of Horror.. It's sweet.

Going to need a lot of stakes to cope with those vampires, I hope they left some convienently placed wooden furniture around that can be easily smashed up into sharp, pointy sticks.

Re: The Return of the World within EPSC's Mind (D&D Campaign Discussion/Suggestions Centre)

I want suggestions for powers to give someone who is descended from dragons (think as far off descended as a genasi is to their elemental ancestor). Long story short? A player is the direct-line descendent of one of the dragon gods... one of the evil ones.

The ability to roast ham with his breath would be a way of showing his dragon ancestry.

I've considered that one as well as the ability to actually sprout wings (even though with magic he already can fly).

So far I gave him the madeup power of 'Dragonsense' which works much like a half-vampire's power to sense vampires, though to a lesser degree.

    Hmmmm

Well elemental/physical resistances would certainly be possible.

shapeshifting or telepathy is also a possibility...

I am concerned that giving him powers will A)Make him too powerful... and B)piss off the group/make them jealous.
