Thousands of years ago, when the world was young, there were heros. There were gods. There were champions, there were Dragons, there were mythical creatures which roamed the sky. An end came to them, an end unforseen, something caused their widespread anhilation. Some say it was an order of men, some say it was an order of something not of this world which feared the power contained within. Yet whatever it was, it was not able to completely destroy those people, gods, creatures, which escaped in the form of immortal souls which would reincarnate within the beings of this world. The mortals, the humans, who would maybe one day draw upon that power and be reborn in their true forms. Then, again would the Immortal powers rule over the skies of Earth, taking back the place that was theres, the place of sacredness.
But, what if at the same time, whatever dark force caused the extinction of such creatures, still existed. It lived on, either in the hearts of men, or in the ancient lore books which contained the methods to summon it back. It / they are still waiting, trying to destroy the people who were born awakened to the knowledge of themselves. What would you do if one day you woke up, looked in the mirror, and say a Dragon trapped within your eyes. The spirit of the fairy trapped within your corporeal form. Would you try ad connect with it? Would you fear it? Would you see a dark sinister creature which desires only to slay lives? Or would you be unlucky enough to actually only be the reincarnation of the things which ended those other mythical creatures. Being born of the shadow of whatever stopped the Age of Myths.
This is a concept which I was thinking about, and which I was thinking may be fun. It would revolve around a group of characters of various ages, who, in differing ways, would be somehow the reborn mythological creatures or heros which had died so long ago. At the same time, some event will cause another terror to be unleashed, the terror of the being which desires to slay the reborn souls, and therefore kill the group. Therefore, it would be a very open form of game, considering you could be any number of characters, and then, after you've created your character, you then choose what sort of creature you were in your past life.
Since we can correctly assume that these mystical pieces of the past were powerful in the areas of the arcane, or at least powerful in one regard or another, one can rightly assume that the re-awakening to such energies rewards those who are involved with great powers. Some may gain physical prowess, others may gain access to powerful magics. Others may simply realize that they no longer are completely human at all, and start becoming the creature they once were, no longer able to exist within a human society again. Yet all of the reborn, eventually, will start to realize that their own existence may cause them to return to the state of their previous form, changing into what they once were.
Anyway, I'm not sure exactly how I'll have it go, but I think I'll try and leave enough surprise to those who are interested. If you're interested, and have a clue, leave your name in here, as well as what sort of mythological creature / person / fake mythological person (As long as you explain who he is), you would like to be. As original as posible, though I'm sure that I would enjoy a completely cliched idea as well. This is my attempt at trying to find something that would be enjoyable.
