    Re: Summer!

I went with my cousin and his friends down to his friend's relative's house since my husband was at work (poor guy).  Mostly watched others fire off mortars and alike, but I decided I wanted to fire one off for my husband.  I later told him that was the first time I had ever lit a real firework.  My parents wouldnt let me when I was younger (plus, by the time I was old enough, the city had banned them)  A fun evening although I wish my husband coulda been there.

    Re: Summer!

We went to my aunt's to cook out and shoot off fireworks.I have a family of pyromaniacs so our little firework displays can go on for hours. The finale was me and my dad getting about two hundred of the cheap sparklers, putting them in a pile, lighting a match and throwing it into the sparklers.

It didn't last long but the resulting explosion nearly blinded me,it was so bright.

I hope every American had a nice Independence Day (you'll come crawling back one day Stick out tongue [:P] ). I wonder if Tybs went to any of those famous Boston tea parties?

    Re: Summer!

Brew yourself a cup of tea and then pour it down the sink, there's your cheap and quick way of celebrating independence Stick out tongue [:P]

(Not that the Boston Tea Party happened at that time but it's still very symbolic)

    Re: Summer!

    Haha!

That could also be symbolism for me throwing change and a clock down a toilet because money and time would have been something I wasted there for sure Stick out tongue [:P]

Me sitting on my ass in front of a computer drinking iced tea is the best symbolism of the Boston Tea Party Ill be making this year Stick out tongue [:P]

    Re: Summer!

Well, the day after tomorrow I go back to school, thus ending my summer vaction.I'm actually happy to go back because 1)I haven't gamed all summer due to being isolated from my friends and 2)I've been stuck alone with my younger relatives all summer. This is also the year I take my SATs and ACTs and start applying for college. To think,it's only about a year and a half until I turn eighteen and become an adult. Not to mention I'll be going out on my own and starting college.Yeah,it's great...super.........

I DON'T WANNA GROW UP!!!!! *sob*

So I will not! I shall fight the shackles of maturity until I become a female version of Peter Pan! *cackles maniacally*

    Re: Summer!

College is a major transition in life from high school.  I felt the exact same way you did at that time, so much uncertainty and longing for the times I had hanging out with high school friends.

And then with a month left in high school, we realized, dang!  We are really tired of eachother!

But that was just us I guess.  In truth college was SO much better than high school.  Those 4 years were the best years of my life and Id give up so much just to live it all over again.  In fact I wish I could have changed some things so that I could have enjoyed it even more.  But it sure felt wierd to go through the transition from high school to college.  The summer was probably among my best, but the transition never really hit me until I actually had to get ready to go on campus.  The first month at college was really a transition too but I got used to that   But I didnt realize how great the years were until now, now that I realized its all ended and now Im in another transition into the working world, a much more somber transition I must say.

Just like you, I just dont want to grow up just yet.

Ive tried to do what I could to sieze this summer but its been packed with peaks and valleys and its been taking its toll on me a bit.  The peaks have definitely been worth it, its just been a little bumpy on the way

My advice is to enjoy your last couple years at high school.  Junior year for me was meh but treasure it, enjoy time with friends. Try not to lose contact with your best ones, like I did.   The SATs and ACTs were a real drag.  I never put much stock in standardized tests so I really didnt put much effort into taking it, Id probably recommend you trying hard though.

    I found a saying...
Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.
Although that's probably not what you meant, I thought it's a good saying anyway. I know what you mean, though. I can get my Learner's Licence next year. Australians clear the roads, I'm coming through! (and crashing miserably)

Yes it's interesting times ahead of you, young Adarra. Unfortunately no one (well, except Dr. Trantulus) can stop the flow of time. It's a good adventure, you'll have fun even if the exams are highly stressful and suffocating.

    Re: Summer!

Just got back from my first day of school and, despite my whinging,I really enjoyed it.Even though it's very chaotic right now because a school nearby just closed out of the blue and the population has jumped drastically. Not to mention we're still trying to repair the roof after the tornado last April.

But my little gaming group has gained a couple of promising freshmen including a little guy named Kenny, who will recieve much teasing ala South Park. There's also my friend's little brother whom he refuses to acknowledge due to his recently getting a mullet.

Glad you're enjoying school so far, Adarra. This is the easy bit.
