I never normally go anywhere near the 'Daily Mirror', but I made an exception when my Dad drew my attention to an article they ran on Saturday.
Their front page on Thursday featured a large picture of Bush and the headline 'How can 59,054,087 people be so DUMB?'. They put this on their website too, probably to provoke a reaction. It did, so in Saturday's paper they've printed out some of the comments received from Americans of both partisans.
It would take too long to go through them all, but here are some of my favourites:
"I hope you realise that 59 million US citizens are smart enough to spend their tourism dollars elsewhere. I myself will NEVER visit your third-world country. Rot in hell."
"These same idiots still believe Saddam was behind 9/11. They voted for Bush for his moral stance. Never mind that we've killed 100,000 innocent Iraqis. Whatever happened to "Thou shall not kill"?. Oh well. As long as we Americans can still consume 25 per cent of the world's resources everything will be just fine! Who cares if we're ******* all over the rest of the world? We've got Jesus"
"God is with America. People with morals, class, Bible readers and believers have spoken. The dumb people is you, that have a queen in the 21st century."
"Our civil rights have been hijacked back into the 18th century. Please help us to emigrate out of this religious fanatical hellhole! I feel as though a family member was murdered. I have not honestly felt this much hatred towards any one group of people since 9/11 and if I cannot get it out of my system I will implode. Send the UN here to investigate this atrocity and have Bush impeached for war crimes against humanity."
"Mindless Brits! When is the last time you held an election on the Queen? You're probably too biased to post this."
"If you are one of the 45 million without health insurance, a simple ear infection costs upwards of £150 to treat. I am horrified that over 59 million people voted to re-elect the moron-in-chief. But don't worry, Britons, those people won't be visiting your country anytime soon. Nine of 10 of them can't find Britain on a map."
