Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Navrick waits patiently through their outburst his staid azure eyes studying the three leaders.

In a calm collected voice he goes on “You are right Kirri does require healing however these creatures are not here to do that, they are golems, creatures of magic crafted by the hands of men not nature; they are no more a part of the natural order than the undead and their continued existence no doubt causes the Mother much anguish.”

He focuses on the barbarian once again. “I am knowledgeable in a great many things, my training and my travel has required this of me but I will be the first to admit that there is far more that I do not know or understand, that I could never understand. My position within my church, Truth Sword, requires that I seek out the truth behind the mysteries of our world so that the lies that are used to harm the ignorant, the innocent, can be torn away. Perhaps you could shed some light onto this situation and tell me of what Lansord speaks of this test, if we where to understand the truth of it we could better come to an agreement as to whether or not this is as you say…”

    Sir Twain listens intently.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

"Well, Master Jordan, I am familiar with magic that does not use the same properties as normal magics.  I am unsure as to whether the spells that I cast would affect the golems the same way, and am apt to experiment with it.  However, I would like to test this principle on a single golem before attempting to mass produce the result, and as such would require assistance from others of various trades in order to separate one of the golems from it's brethren."

Yashwi merely waited for an answer as he spoke, his words carrying a hint of truth - Shadow Magic did not come from the Weave, and as such was possibly more affective against Magic Immune beings.  Along a similar concept, a masterful wizard of ancients magics may not be familiar with the inner workings of the Shadow Weave, considering Shar's status in the pantheon, and Shar's thoughts on the matter were similar, assuming that Yashwi neither accredited the goddess or left anyone around to study the phenomenon should it work, or if it doesn't, don't explain what it is he used.

"And before you ask, Master, I won't explain what it is, and can only describe it as a manipulation of magics which involves attacking the strands of energy which attach themselves to a device rather than the magics effects.  Attacking the cause rather than the effect.  It shows surprising possibilities."

A lie, blatant, but no differing in tone, for Yashwi was a master of his arts.  Both of magic, and of lying, Yashwi was a true master, in fact considering his abilities, someone not to be messed with, and the true irony of him being a Journeyman is that he was very far from it at his current point in life.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

(Sorry guys, I was completely out of it due to multiple sicknesses)

    [Mages Guild: Yashwi]
"Ah.  Yes, I love how the mages guild holds its tounges tight on secrets that can benefit the knowers.  ...Even though this idea of yours is an entertaining posibility, there is a slight problem...  The golems don't leave their fallen behind.  Any we do injure or kill get dragged back to the place they came from by their fellows.  We've actually been trying to capture one for a few days now for studies, so you would have to wait in line," Jordan said, keeping a business face on.  He knew the journyman before him wasn't telling the truth, but it was misjudged for the typical coniving that goes on in the mages guild.

[Wilders Guild: Twain, Favarin, and Darwin]
"No, this is Kirri!  Look at their bug like features!  See how they resist the Mages guild and the greatest of heros with little difficulty.  Kirri wants her minirals back and takes them back by force!"  Zia responds, seeming rather stuck on her idea of the situation.  "By Kirri, I--"

"ANYway," Rufus interupts, projecting his voice up over hers.  "I will share this with you, Truth Sword, for I respect you and your breatheren.  Though I lack the texts, I do know them by my heart.  'Far from our heart, lays a city in mountains; from the city, comes our steel; in the city, we test resolve; mantis golems invade, taking the steal; our forces march many, they fall before Thambril's Chosen; but will many be, or shall we rush blind?  Not a test of strenght, but of the mind; those who pass, quided by Thambril be; those who fail, rejoin with Kirri.'  Hows that, miss treehugger?"  He says, smirking at her.

    "Why you littl--"

"Zia!  Enough squabbling.  Rufus, stop egging her on," Jager exclaimed before rubbing the bridge of his nose.

In the shadows, where no one could see him though he could see them, an man smirked continously.  He enjoyed this most profusely.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Yashwi's steel gaze kept solidly upon the Master, before he considered how he would approach the problem.  It would be difficult to separate one of the golems from the group, but at the same time he wanted to do controlled testing, it was in his nature.  However, he couldn't always do what he wanted, as his goddess was forever telling him, adaptability was a gift he would have to use as best as he could, and he quickly changed his approach in one manner, he smiled as he spoke this time.

"I understand, Master.  I think that it would be best if I tried to join up with any group willing to try and capture or destroy the golems, do you know of any I could find?"

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Sir Navrick nodded, “Your argument is not with out merit, I am sure then that your druids can walk among the golems; you have verified the source of their creation first hand unharmed and unmolested as these are creatures of nature and you their shepherds…” Navrick’s piercing blue eyes look to her searchingly. “You have, haven’t you? I have heard of the great druids as wise as the stones in the land are old, no doubt my worry is misplaced and you would not risk so much simply because the golems are constructed to resemble insects and are mightier than each guild separately…” trails off as his gaze slides to the barbarian.

“You are most certainly correct, the prophecy describes these very circumstances and I am honored that you have chosen to share them with me.” Twain pauses in thought for a moment. “I however fail to see where it says you must face this foe alone...” He recites the words back to Rufus. “But will many be, or shall we rush blind? Not a test of strength but of the mind… Would you rush blindly to face this foe in battle falling before it, or would you join with the other guilds and be many so that the combined strength can overcome the challenge that has been placed before you, this challenge of your ability to plan, adapt and out think your foe, to use your mind to forge alliances so that many can stand as one where few would fall?”

He looks to the group as a whole. “In this test do we blindly rush our foes or let them do as they wish without finding out everything we can about them, or do we stand together, hold strong, and investigate this problem in order to find the best solution?”

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

    [Mage's Guild: Yashwi]
"Well... In this next coming battle, my mages are going to help combat the golems," Jordan responded as he stroked his chin.  "Meet me and my mages here when nightfall nears.   I will add you to the team that has some interests of capturing them.  However, know this: While you may want to capture them, if that is not a viable approach at the time, then destroy them.  We need a victory more then we need a Golem."

[Wilder's Guild: Twain, Favarin, and Darwin]
Twain was feeling a light taint nearby.  Something was not all right in this tent, and it came from behind and to the left, though from where he stood he would only see an opening into another portion of the tent and the fact that the section was unlighted.

Twain wasn't the only who sensed something.  The Ice Demon in Darwin felt something familiar nearby, though it couldn't quite pinpoint where.  Whether it warned Darwin of such a thing was to question, though.  Either way, no one else knew, and the conversation continued.

"But...  Well...  Ah..."  Rufus stumbled out of his mouth when bringing into view what Twain said.  The fact was, even though he was smart for a barbarian, and maybe even smarter then the average person, sometimes he still needed to be pointed forward, as his thought processes were still rather one-tracked.  He just smiled a quarky smile and rubbed the back of his head.  " I didn't really think of it that way.  I just sorta thought it ment the Clans when it talked about the many.  But now that you put it like that, I guess that could be right."

"I bet it was all just false babble to get the fight to yourself, Rufus," Zia said from her chair.

"Gods Zia!  Is it that time of the month again!?  What is up with you?" Jager said from his seat, obviously annoyed by her agressiveness at the moment.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

(Welcome back Qesun, was starting to miss this game... The Druid did not react to what I said to her, did you miss that or is she so ashamed and uncomfortable she is trying to shift the conversation onto Rufus? :P )

Navrick keeps a calm face, he would like to smile with satisfaction but decided it would be better to remain composed in these dealings; which is why his face did not sour as the presence of an ill force tugged at his senses. While the Druidess and Barbarian argued Sir Twain's eyes locked with Jager and stared at him intently until he noticed that the paladin's gaze focused solely on his eyes, once he had his attention his eyes shifted towards the unlighted section pointedly and then back to the ranger hoping that the man was as wise as he seemed.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Although the voice of Shar remained silent in the back of his mind, working with other mages whom were most definitely using the magic of the Weave did not entirely please Yashwi, considering that his Mistress probably would take it out on him eventually; however, his Mistress did expect secrecy, and would thus excuse it for him to test his magics against such an intriguing contraption.

His original intention may have been to make some contacts and start himself off as a big "Hero of Good" in the world of light, he still did have other goals underlaying that, one of which was swift becoming the desire to figure out how such machines worked, and see if they could easily be manufactored, since he could use something which shows a definite immunity to magic and arms alike. Such a golem would be great on a minor scale - small sized golems sent into assassinate those whom would be obviously hostile toward his causes, or his race in particular, as such he quickly asserted that to the Mage.

"Yes, I would be happy to join you then, but until then where do you care for me to stay? I have no place in town, and it would be very easy for you to get me a room somewhere, wouldn't it?"

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Favarin chuckled to himself at the crack made by the paladin in the chair while he continued observing. He watches now as Twain goes silent and lets the druid and barbarian argue. Thinking of it as an odd turn, to be trying to stop arguments then to be silently staring at the other paladin, he keeps his eyes on the two knights, focusing mainly on Jager as Twain's back is toward the door and Favarin. Animal instinct tells him something's up, but he has no clue what. He's also getting that uneasy "watched" feeling...though he disregards it as nothing new (he's pretty used to it, being what he is). The tip of his tail twitches uneasily at Twain's new behavior, however, and one of his ears pivots slowy, listening for anything strange.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

    [Mage's Guild: Yashwi]
"You're a journeyman of the guild, are you not?" Jordan asked, though it was in a tone that sounded more like a reminder as he made a gesture at the surrounding tent.  "You can stay in the guild tents free of charge just as always.  Here, I'll show you to a place you can say," he said as he turned and began walking, gesturing for Yashwi to follow.  The face said friendly intent certainly, but in his mind, the gears of Master Jordan's thought processes churned.  'Something does not feel right here...  I'll have to keep an eye on this one.'

[Wilder's Guild: Twain, Favarin, and Darwin]
Jager didn't even nod when he saw Twain's motion.  Instead, he simply got up.  "If you all will excuse me, I have some business that needs some attention," He said before moving in the general direction of the little nook where he had been directed.

Zia began to watch Jager as he headed in that direction, her eyes following his path like wolves on a trail.  When he just about entered is when she spoke up.  "Jager, just what kind of business is this?  You know that goes to nowhere in particular," She said, almost glaring now.

Jager didn't stop.  He went right into the little nook, only to fly out again followed by and arm made of the shadows themselves and a fear invoking laugh.  A new voice spoke from the shadows.  "Oh dear...  My game is interupted by a nosy little Ranger.  Of course, you probably had help from that paladin...  We'll play again later."  With that, the darkness receeded, Zia falling unconcious as the feeling of evil faded from Twain's sense to nothingness.

Re: We're Not Alone [Open, Epic]

Twain’s sword was free of its scabbard in an instant, shining brightly as if reflecting the light of the sun that did not reach the tent’s interior. His gaze hardened as he remained unflinching at the horror inducing laugh solely because of his god’s divine blessing, he strode forward and knelt to make sure Jager was unharmed.

“This is no force of nature, there are dark forces at work and we need no more proof than that.”

(Provided Jager is alright Twain will tend to Zia…)
