    The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

Just in case you're not in the mood for a storyline quest. It's not going to be the same as the old Stereotypical Dungeon in the sense that it will not be a carbon copy of the sotry, but it is a stereotypical dungeon.

The forest was particularly dense in this part, which was, you thought to yourself, typical; secret entrances were rarely hidden beneath a large sign alerting passersby to their presense, it would be nice though. After two days travel, though, ahead the group can see a stone tombstone, blank, and at it's base a very rusty metal ring handle.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

This was Zalan's domain.  The place where, for all the places he'd been, he was at his best.  Any forest applied, or nature in general, really.  His clothing silently flowed with him as he quickly made his way through the forest.  Normally, it would have been quicker.  He would have just tree-jumped through the place.  But not today.  He saught something today, and it was supposedly hidden in here.  He would never catch it if he wasn't simply running.  He found his way to the tombstone, a stark crash in the uniformity of a forest, and came to a stop.  This may very well be what he was looking for.

Ehlonna strided behind Zalan at the pace he set not getting heded by anything that might abstruct anyone not used to the forest.  Her wolf follows off in the near distance within earshot.  Following nearly the exact same path as Zalan she arrived at the tombstone mere seconds behind him.

"Is this what we are looking for out here?"  she says in a small voice.  "This really shouldn't be in a forest of such awe."

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

Victor walked through the forest, in wolf form, not fast just keeping the others who were heading towards the location in view.  He liked the forest in the day with the light beams streaming through the leaves above.  He kept with the other wolf that seemed to be with Ehlonna he managed to convince them he would not bother it, but was just following everyone else.  He expected they told Ehlonna about him being their, but he did not mind.  Traveling through a forest as a wolf was a lot easier than in human form.  There was no worrying about cloths getting caught on trees.  Once he made it to the place where the tombstone was he changed back into his human form behind some trees. He gathered all of his stuff out of his bag and set all his weapons into their normal places as he walked into the opening seeing everyone else there.  “Greetings, it seems everyone else beat me here.  So, this is what we all were looking for.”

Hiding in the shadows of the trees Marco notices that there is tombstone to his left and that the group is in front it, sheathing his blade he jumps from tree to tree towards where they all stood thinking about what could possibly be so important. "It doesnt matter" he muttered to himself " I think for some laughs ill see what could happen"After reaching there he reappears and calls out, "Alright so now what, and who is or should i say was the dead stiff.

Ehlonna walks up closer to inspect the tombstone, but moreso the metal handle at its base.  "This is very suspicious.  Maybe it is some sort of secret path that leads into something."  After a little more inspection, she reaches down and is about to grab the handle.  "If any of you have any objections I am going to test this theory I have."  She waits for a response from any of her companions.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

Indeed she was correct, though not in the way she hoped. As she spoke the words about the path and approached the metal handle a loud click was heard and the ground below her swallowed her. Upon closer inspection, the ground did not simply swallow her, the ground was a trap door which had just opened by means of a pressure trigger.

Ehlonna plummeted straight down about twenty feet before landing in a pool of water. The room, or cave, or cavern around her was completely dark except a pillar of light from the now open trapdoor above her. The water was deep, deep enough that when she landed and swam to the surface she hadn't touched the bottom. She couldn't see how far the pool stretched in any direction, but she had an uneasy feeling.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

"Oh I see, a trap door of some sort."  Victor walks over to the hole looks down to see Ehlonna down in some water. "Well seems you are alright. Ok I will come down because it seems dark down there and a guy with dark vision to see around."  Victor steps over the ledge and walks down the wall and around onto the roof with his spider climb.  Once he gets down he begins to look around to see if there is anything he can see.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

seeing Ehlonna fall into the trapdoor and Victor follow, Marco jumps down from his tree and looks down the ledge to see Victor walking down the side of the wall "my my how very interesting" and jumps down the trapdoor after them. Once he lands he starts to move to the nearest wall to check for clues.

Zalan simply sighs.  He's not so given to doing things rash without information or planning.  While it's possible that this could be the path, he'd not want to take chances of getting trapped.  Using his own abilities, he spurs the growth of a nearby vine, having it wrap a tree a few times as it thickened before growing down into the trap door.  That way, they would have a way out if neccesary.  Finally he walks over to the tombstone himself, avoiding the new hole, and checks it over, seeing if he can find any information on it which may also aid them.  He also seems to be grumbling about impulsiveness.

"Well, I did not see that one coming,"  she says as she looks around the area to find some place that she could swim to to get out of this water.  "I really should have expected something like this though.  Not like me to fall for something as simple as that."

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

Ehlonna: Ehlonna looks around the cavern, unfortunately she can see nothing. The cavern is perfectly dark other than the pillar of light from the hole in the ceiling some 20 feet above her, her low-light vision lets her see only that. The 10 feet of dirt and rock keep most of the light from even reaching the surface of the water in a straight column down.

She glanced up just in time to take two strokes backward, treading water closer to the shallow water and out of the way of the hole above.......

Victor: Victor clambors down the 10 or so feet of dirt and rock before the hole opens into the cavern containing the underground lake easily using his spider walk. Upon reaching he hole he reaches through with his right and left hands carefully, followed by both his feet, just as carefully. He straddles the hole, belly facing toward the sky.

Unfortunately for him he could not feel the slimey ceiling beneath his boots, or he might not have put his hand out to take a "step" forward across the celining. Victor puts his right hand out and grasps only slime. The vampire attempts to steady himself by bracing with his feet, which both slip on the slime on the ceiling, leaving only his left hand to hold himself up with, his right slimey and useless. He swings once before his left hand peels away from the ceiling. Victor lands in the light ring in the lake.

Victor does not get a chance to survey the area.

Marco: Marco watches Victor move away from the hole, but apparently doesn't notice Victor's fall until it's too late, nor does he notice that there is water, not solid ground, below the hole. Marco hops into the hole. After the 30 foot fall through the air to the underground lake he becomes very wet.

Marco splashes directly on top of Victor's head, sending them both back underwater. As they both surface, bruised but ok, a vine falls across Marco's head, draped down the center of his face with the end just touching the water.

Zalen: Zalen watches Ehlonna being swallowed up by the trap-door, walks over to the opening and watches Victor swing away from the hole, and covers his face as Marco hops down the hole without a second thought, or, in Zalen's humble opinion, any consideration for the situation at hand.

The half-elf walks around the tombstone as his vine slithers into the hole and searches it. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, nor does it appear to have any switches or levers other than the metal loop, which appears to simply be hooked into the tombstone's base, a lure for the gullible. Zalen stands, scratching his head. A trapdoor doesn't seem, to him, to be the most likely way for a person to get into his home...indeed, Zalen thought, a trapdoor, in most cases, is a trap.

Ehlonna's wolf walks up to Zalen, ignoring him as it puts it nose into the hole, searching for Ehlonna. It barks for her waiting for a reply.

Current situation: Ehlonna, Victor, and Marco treading water in a lake. Victor and Marco are both hurting from Marco jumping onto Victor's head, but more annoyed than injured.  Sounds in the cavern include *drip* and *tread water sound*. A vine rope is hanging from a tree down to the water's surface. Zalen is still on terra firma.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

After hearing for compainions bark, Ehlonna looks up to the hole.  "Now worries if fine.  Just fell into an underground lake."  After saying this she swims over to where this vine is hanging and tests to see if the vine the strudy enough to support her weight to climb up the distance back through the hole.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

Ok, so the head stone was nothing but bait.  Definitely a trap.  Zalan looks around the immediate area for anything else that might be of immediate interest.  Or was this it?  If that were so...  Then maybe the hole had more to it.  It would certainly be a slight of hand trick to disguise an entrance with a trap, would it not?  Silly, but if nothing else where here...  That would be the only possible lead to follow.

Re: The Stereotypical Dungeon Redo-sies [Open]

"Gah, stupid blummbering fool. What were you thinking just jumping down. Bloody falling right on my head.  Was bloody well trying to see what was going on, but no mr. leaps before he looks. I was trying to see if there was anything, but all I know now is the bloody roof is slimey as all heck."  As Victor rants, to himself and anyone in listening range, he changes into his gasseous mist form and floats up out of the water. He then turns into a bat, so he is out of the water.  He then begins to see what the cavern is like.
